Bitcoin's biggest value is that it is the first blockchain in the world.  It proved to the world that a trustless self sustaining currency is possible. Currencies other than bitcoin are centralized and controlled by different state banks. But Bitcoin changed this with a self sustaining decentralized system. This gives it an archaeological value.

Bitcoin is used in almost all crypto exchanges to pair altcoins. If someone wants to buy an alt, he has to buy Bitcoin. This creates a natural demand for Bitcoin. This is the most significant factor behind bitcoin's value.

Bitcoin is accepted as a currency by many online stores. This also creates awareness about it and brings value to it.
