Sometimes it's hard to keep up with all the development that is happening on the steem blockchain. Just when you think that you have a grasp of what's going on, a new project rear it's head and take you by surprise.
What Is Utopian.io?
Just as @elear mentions it on announcement post :
Utopian.io enables everyone to contribute to Open Source projects by providing Ideas, Code contributions, Graphics or Social exposure and be rewarded for that with Steem. A project is Open Source when its codebase is public. Most if not all of the Open Source projects are hosted on Github.com. Utopian offers a full integration with Github, allowing you to link your contribution posted on Utopian with an Open Source project hosted on Github.
It uses an interface that is identical to busy.org, it's intuitive and easy to use. I can see this becoming a major project in the future of open-source communities, especially if it integrate it's own SMT or allow each project to reward it's contributor with their own SMT.
I always dreamed that we could have a STEEM powered github but this is even better since it doesn't compete but complement an already existing infrastructure.

You are a minnow who want to get ahead?
First, please follow @elear and @utopian-io to keep in touch with the development. Then if you are a minnow that is having difficulty getting rewards on your own posts, start contributing to open-source project such as busy.

Conclusion
The future is bright and I can't wait for all the wonderful project that keep popping up here and there. I remember when Ethereum was $2...how I wish I bought a bunch when it was that cheap...
Now that STEEM is here and that we are early, I think we all got our ticket to a wild ride!

I believe this project could dramatically change the open source scene.
What's better than contributing and getting rewarded for it at the same time?
Hopefully, we can see more people getting into open source as well.
I can see this motivating new developers, specially self-taught, to improve their skills while contributing to meaningful projects. Sometimes looking at a new big project might be daunting. However, this push might be the first step needed to jump right in and consolidate their ambitions.

Great post! I'm a big fan of utopian.io despite the fact that I have not tried it yet. I spent some time translating Busy.org a few days ago, so now I regret not using the utopian.io interface before beginning! Oh well.

Hey @valth you can add your contribution anytime, even if it happened one year ago. Utopian is for sharing your work for Open Source projects and get rewarded. Does not have to be real-time :D

fantastic post my friend, this project also looks quite promising and interesting and as the minnows like us also able to earn some good rewards by our contribution, i start following @elear and @utopian-io to keep an eye on further developments, you also talk about SMT's and i heard another good news posted by @exyle you can read a full post here and that is the first app that will use SMT (on the Steem blockchain) has been announced and it's called Appics, it's now exciting to see how SMT's work with steemit blockchain practically, The social media APP should help steem as it is created on top of the steemit blockchain, stay awesome and blessed my friend and thank you very much for sharing your good knowledge with us.
