While I was out in a short evening walk I spotted quite a few of these in a tree. I tried to fix the quality of the photo to share but clearly my effort was a bit of a failure - still it is a record of what I found.
A couple of days ago I showed you some acorns. These are not acorns; I believe they’re called cobnuts. I still need to find out why the ones I found look nothing like the photos in the article I linked to.
The ones above look quite lush in comparison to the next photo :
That’s another specimen in the same tree - the variation was really noticeable. I know I’ve got a nutcracker somewhere so I’ll try and check what it looks like inside.
