SLC-S24/W2 - Powerful Debate | Love vs Capability"

In the modern era being a mother isn’t just about changing kids diapers, cooking meals, or attending school functions., But also about the dreams, goals, independence, and self-worth.

But this society puts mothers in a difficult place, Specially when they choose to focus on their careers, But are they really selfish for choosing something for herself?

Are they missing their child’s precious moments such as first steps of their child, tucking them before bed etc.
Or are they trying to build a better future for her and the children?

World One

This is the world that many of us have seen growing up, the traditional times where a mother who gives up everything like her job, her sleep, her hobbies, her dreams . So that her child can grow up loved and well taken care of. In this world, She’s there at every school event. She never misses bedtime stories. She’s the first one to wake up and the last one to sleep.

As you can feel, This world praises the sacrifices the more a mother gives up, the more society calls her a perfect mother. Here love is shown through physical presence. This world believes that children need their mothers every moment specially when the children is in the early years. For many of us , a mother’s love means always being there for their kids no matter at what cost, But it is still subjective right.

World Two

Now this world is totally opposite of the world one, in this a woman is not just a mother, But also a person with goals, ideas, and dreams. Maybe she want to become a doctor, a writer, a businesswoman, or a teacher or anything else. In this world mother wants her child to look at her and feel proud, not because she’s a loving mother, but because she’s also strong, smart, and determined for her goals, to chase her dreams.

In this world, She want to be financially independent not to spend on herself, but to provide her kids a better life. She want to be mentally satisfied cuz a happy mother raises happy kids.

This world says -

“Why should a mother give up her dreams?”
“Who Wouldn’t want their daughter to grow up believing that she can chase her goals too?”
“Shouldn’t your son learn to respect women who work hard and aim high?”

She may not be present every second, but everything that she does is for her child’s future to create a world where her child feels proud, safe, and inspired to her mother.

Should mothers be judged for pursuing their careers or dreams?

In my opinion, Absolutely not, A mother is also an individual a human being just like all of us, No mother should be judged for choosing a life that works for her and her family. Some mothers stay home and they are amazing, But some mothers go to work and you know what they are amazing too, Deep down we all know that every mother makes hard choices, Every mother worries for their kids and want the best life for their kids and they sacrifice so much while doing all of this.

What Makes a Good Mother?

I am not sure if there is a proper logical definition that may define what a perfect mother is, A good mother isn’t perfect. She also a human being and human beings aren't perfect, A good mother loves deeply, She tries her best, She proves through her actions, She supports her children and also support herself and what's wrong in that? She might not be able to make it on every happy moment, But Shes doing her best to build a life full of love, strength and lessons. She shows up every day no matter what, She may cry in silence, But still puts a smile on her face for her child. She may doubt herself sometimes, But she never gives up - That is what a good mother is.

Final

In the society, We do not need perfect mothers, but REAL ones, Like i said there is no human being who is perfect, A real mother who cares, Who shows up no matter what the cost, A mother who dream for herself and her kids, A mother who teaches her kids that it's okay to be strong, emotional, tired, and passionate that too all at once. she is always doing something incredible.

She is building two worlds at once one in her child’s heart, and one in her own soul.
