Debunked: Illuminate run the music industry

I am a big fan of conspiracy theories though I am not a big believer in them, really I just find it interesting to see the ideas people come up with and how they rationalize things. There are a lot of theories you can tell straight of that bat are just fiction but then there are some that are hard to disprove or prove and a small portion that turn out to be true. I am going to be posting a series of blogs discussing a range of theories and sharing my opinion on them.

Just before I get into this when I say the illuminate I mean an unknown mysterious group with unknown members and intentions. Many people believe that to get to the top of the music industry you have to 'sell your soul' and they think this means giving up everything for money and allowing this hidden organization to use your music to hide messages and secretly control people.

The main reason people believe this is because of the many strange symbols found in a lot of music videos and the mysterious cult symbols that musicians often make. Musician also talk about selling their souls to something with a negative connotation, which people assume means this secret organization. Many people would argue that they are just talking about the record labels they are signed to or were a part of because once people sign to a label they are an employee of the label so they have to follow the rules and do as the label says. People say they put their heart and soul into their art thus selling their creative freedom = selling their soul. Though a conspiracy theorist would argue that the record labels are owned by this secret group.

Can music control us:

Part of the reason this theory is so widely believed is the impact music can have on ones life. Music really is more than just some sounds, it can and will have a profound impact on the way people think and see the world though I still think it can't control actions to the extent people often argue. Music triggers you brain in such a way that it can make you feel all types of different emotions. It is also not a far fetched statement to say that music could be used to subconsciously influence people and music making us feel emotions helps with that.

Now it would be an immensely difficult task to pull of to brainwash the masses indefinitely through music, because music doesn't have a lasting impact, you can listen to a song that makes you feel sad then go and put the washing out and it's like you never listened to the song as your emotions will be back to normal.

If you look at google many people say google is listening to us however they say that they just have a very good algorithm that can make some scary predictions, they say that google builds up a portfolio of sorts surrounding each user that takes into account where you travel to and how often, if you have location services on. It then also takes into account everything you do on the internet and the people you interact with and from all of this they can pretty accurately predict thing you may search for next or even people you may search for. To give an example if your friends had all been sharing a video with each other that you are yet too see and you go to meet up with your friends (who all have location services on) google knows that you are together and who has been shown the video, so if your friend says look up 'x' after typing the first few letters it will come up with said video as one of the first suggestions.

If you were to implement this into music and find that people of 'x' age like a certain pitch and bpm you could use that pitch and bpm to make them feel happy and from that make them more open to suggestion and through the lyrics have suggestions that will be picked up by the subconscious and go into some complex stuff about the brain that I don't know about in the effort of influencing people.

So in theory it is possible to an extent but unless you are listening to specific music constantly then it wouldn't really do much because the desired impact would ware off shortly after the person stops listening to the music, but then again maybe someone has worked out how long it takes for the impact of music to ware of in the brain, however even then it seems a little unlikely.

My opinion:

Personally I could see the music industry being run by a group that uses music to push something but I don't think there is a large conspiracy where music is actually making people do x, y or z it is probably just on a small scale to make more money, like say drake mentioning his brand OVO in a song so more people are aware of it and buy his products.

The likelihood is that people high up in record labels understand how to sell a product and they do what they can to sell a product and as for some illuminate type group on charge it seems like there wouldn't really much point in them taking control because they wouldn't gain a huge amount from it other than money and if someone is at that level of power I doubt money is an issue or something they even aim to gain more of, as they probably just want power and see better ways to gain it than trying to control a bunch or creators because creators are inherently emotional and would likely blow their cover in little to no time. I would say it's more likely that people that work at record labels purposefully put symbolism in the artists music so people think it's part of a conspiracy to bring more attention to the music which gets them more money.

Do you think there is a bigger conspiracy being the music industry? or do you think music is just music? Let me know your thoughts in the comment, upvote if you enjoyed and follow for more.

I think it's just greed. No conspiracy needed.
Artists don't get paid a whole lot these days unless they are on tour.
That's where the real money is.
