As someone who has played a lot of video games, I think of myself as someone who knows a little bit about what's going on, what makes a good game or a sucky one, and what a real gamer wants on the whole.
I have been playing video games since I was around 4 or 5 years old. I started off on a Commodore 64 when it was cutting edge technology. After I played my first game, that was it for me, I was a gamer through and through. My evolution of Gaming led me through a number of consoles such as Atari, Sega master system, genesis (megadrive in oz), nes, snes, ps1, ps2, ps3, various PCs and many, many hours on arcade machines.

As a gamer I would say I am a jack of all trades and master of none. I like pretty much everything when it comes to gaming, rps, tbs, fps, racing, third person, platfomers, side scrollers, sandbox, you name it im down for a few rounds... gaming was life.
I was always interested in creating video games but I never thought I would have the skills or ability to do so. To be honest I was also quite a bit of negative feedback when discussing the possibility of designing and building a game from scratch. So for a really long time this dream was put into a safe and tucked away in the it will probably never happen pile. But more recently, after chats with some of my mates in the steemit community, the interest in building a game of my own was reignited.
After a couple of weeks of research in regards to what kind of game engine I should use, in accordance with what kind of games I would like to produce, I found the engine that i believe will suite my needs. This engine is Unity.
What has drawn me to Unity is it's ability to create both 3D and 2D games as well as being powerful for game creation, at basic and advanced levels. It also has the ability to write to various platforms such as mobile, console, and PC. It has considerable community support as well as many online tutorials.
As I said I'm no professional game maker, however, I believe that my experience in the gaming industry for more than 30 years will give me a considerable advantage when it comes to creating some great games. Theoretically speaking I should be able to create some brilliant games. I guess now we will get to see if I can transfer what's in my mind and produce something physical in the real world that represents that.
But it all starts with this one first step, click... install Unity...

It should be interesting to see what kind of a game you end up developing.

im pretty ambitious.... but will see what i come up with.... im more about story than anything else. Seeing as its my "first game" i may keep it low tech on the graphics and just pump the mind element.... a thinkers game.
That being said i will probably make a few test games before i get to my first "masterpiece", lolz.

Keep us updated mate. I messed around with Unity in school but never really got anywhere with it, I much preferred the visual side of things. Its great that we have game engines to make people's visions like yours a reality.

If you make game as well as you do conversations, we'd all best invest in your efforts early :-) I admire your decision to not let this land "in the it will probably never happen pile." Keep us informed!
