SFS Contest Picture of the Day Week 39

My best photo today is the photo of lightning at night above. It is currently summer in Bangladesh. So there are occasional Kalbaisakhi storms. Last Sunday, when I was coming from home to Rangpur, there was a storm on the road. After getting off at the Rangpur bus terminal, I somehow got on an overbridge.

That day, my Rangpur was slowly getting dark, due to which even though it was dark all around, the entire road was illuminated by the lights of many lampposts and shops on both sides of the road. The rain was decreasing little by little and the lightning was increasing. On one side, cars were also moving on the road. The reflection of the car lights was visible on the wet road.

I saw several lightning flashes from the overbridge. Then I took out my mobile camera and got ready to capture that moment. But at first I couldn't. After that, I didn't look at my mobile and looked at the sky. As soon as the lightning flashed, I clicked and this beautiful picture came out.

At first I was clicking on the sound, which is why I couldn't take the first picture. Because the speed of light is much faster than the speed of sound. The light comes out first, that is, the lightning flashes first, then the sound. So the next time I was able to take this picture by looking at the light in the sky and clicking.

It is nice to see the sky like this during lightning. But it causes a lot of damage in and around it. In our Bangladesh, the number of lightning strikes and the number of people dying due to it is increasing day by day. Therefore, we cannot stand outside in open places during storms and rains.
