When I came home, my little sister has bought papers for pasting on the lantern from various colours. On the vesak day morning I started pasting them, using the papers. My mother, and sister gave me the support, but majority was done by myself. I finished it by 2.30 pm and helped my father to hang them and set bulbs.
As I heard people in the ancient has created vesak lanterns "Atapattama" singifying "Ata Lo Dahama" and they had used a candle or oil lamp to light them. They have used a crossed bamboo stick in the lantern to keep the candle or the oil lamp. When the wind comes, lantern was burned teaching the lesson, " Aniyatha" nature. Today, it has completely changed and we set bulbs, and it's just a decoration and considered as an "Aloka Pooja".
I walked along the village road to see vesak beauty and we have been followed this for years. Vesak beauty under the full moon is something extra special!
Happy vesak day to the earth!
