The New reward system puts merits into chest as one type of reward. It is less value to those who already has joined a guide, but it is good for those who don't have a guide. Most guides ask applicants to contribute DEC; it is fair, but some of them just don't have enough DEC so collecting merits could help them open Gladius Case. I think some of players just want to play for fun; it does not matter whether they joined a guide or not because it is not necessary; nevertheless, believe or not, the things change, the official is planning to provide more reward to guide members so it would better find guides to join. I think some change would start at next season, which it is just in a few days.
