Today we will discuss the second part of the puzzle - which is the Earth's orbit not only around the Sun but also against the zodiacal constellations seen in the night sky.

The ancient Babylonians are said to be the first to sub-divide the ECLIPTIC (the plane spanning from Earth's elliptical orbit around the Sun) into the twelve zodiacal signs around 1.000 BCE (Before Common Era) even though individual constellations were known probably much earlier.

Dividing a circle of 360° into 12 equal parts (analogous to the 12 months of the solar year) yields 30° of the celestial circle for each constellation. Those constellations were picked as those stars are "fixed" in the sense that these constellations could be seen from time immemorial.

The Sun thus moves through all 12 constellations in the course of one year. That's why these constellations constitute the basis people's zodiac signs in horoscopes until today. The sun rises against certain zodiacal constellations depending on the time of the year (which depends on the Earth's position on the ECLIPTIC). E.g. when a child is born in late February, the sun rises against the constellation of Pisces, so the zodiacal sign of the child is said to be Pisces.

In the earliest antiquity people thought that the zodiacal constellations could also give indications as to which season was about to begin - which is of crucial importance for agriculture.

However, they soon noticed that the zodiacal signs are imprecise for indicating seasons and that the spring equinox (vernal equinox) seemed to travel through the zodiacal constellations - this is called PRECESSION. In order to understand this phenomenon exceptional knowledge about the skies had to be developed as the involved cycles are extremely large.

Sure they have an effect on our lives , but we should be very careful with horoscopes, I for myself believe more in meditation or in Tarot cards (must be a "good" card reader😉)
