Deception is the process of tricking someone into believing something that is not true. It is formally known as lieing. Sometimes when the brain is under stress, the way by which we will react to certain situations will change.
There are two forms by which lies can be spotted
- Speech Analysis
- Detecting eye movement
The first thing we should know is that truthful people covey information i.e they expect to be believed while lies will try to convince you in other to be believed
1. Seeking for future and past statements
When a question is asked people will either answer these questions in either in future or in past tense. Truthful people tend to answer in the same tense which the question was asked while liers answer in the opposite tense.
Example: if a question was asked "Did you steal that book" (past tense). An honest person would most likely say "No, I DIDN'T" while liers would say "No, I WOULD NEVER do that". This is because liers would always want to give you a 100% assurance that they aren't guilty
2. Making reference to other people
Liers tend to shift the story to other people in other to disconnect them selves from the situation. They love to use words like; they, he, she etc. But they barely use the word "I"
3. Self depredation
Liers always like to make their selves look weak or inferior in other to convince you that they cannot carry out some certain abilities. Sometimes they can even answer you politely just the one gain your trust
4. Water down issue
Liers will always try to prove to you that the situation or case is unnecessary . They can tell you that you make a big deal out of everything and so on
5. Anger and protest statements
When liers are about to get caught, they can shout at you and accuse you of unnecessary things
Liers tend to say long stories in other to prove that they aren't guilty. These stories are usually abnormal because they will put too much pressure on the brain which would not allow them to think and construct their words before they say it. When this happens it's best to ask them short unexpected questions which would result in them givinupid answers
Now, when a person is lieing, he or she is most likely to be tensed, this can cause some changes in the way they feel, look and the way they react to certain questions, this brings us to the next segment.
Eye dilation :
This is the contraction of the radially oriented papillary dilator muscle fibres in the iris. Theres a black spot in the pupil, When a person is tensed, that black spot dilates. To observe this, you must have a good eyesight.
People's eye dilates when they are tensed and People tend to get tensed when they are lieing.
The eye can move in six different ways ;
- Top right corner
- Right corner
- Bottom right corner
- Top left corner
- Left corner
- Bottom left corner
position | Function |
---|
Top right corner | constructive images |
Right corner | constructive audio |
bottom right corner | Emotions |
top left corner | visual memory |
Left corner | audio memory |
bottom left corner | thoughts |
Constructive images: These are images created in one's mind.
Constructive audio: These are words created in one's mind example ; composing a song
Emotions: ones feelings
Visual memory:seen images that are now stored in the brain
Audio memory:Words that have been said and are stored in the brain
Thoughts:ones thoughts and trying to make sense out of something
As a person is lieing, his or her brain constructs words and images which use in defending themselves, that is why their pupil will constantly move to the top left and left corner of the eye
NOTE
we can only be 100% sure a person is lieing if we see clusters of these signs
