Contest Alert: The Lie that Saved Me

Hi friends of steem4nigeria, we'll be taking you to the past and present. Have you eaten? You'll say no but you've actually eaten. Could this be a joke or a lie? You tell someone you're on a vehicle but you haven't left your house. These are common lies people tell on a daily basis to save the day. When we were kids, some of us tell lies to avoid being flogged by our parents. We tell lies to win that beautiful lady's heart we want to marry. Even our age is a fallacy as people lie about their age.

This contest isn't condoning dishonesty as lying is a dishonest act. There are no big and small lies. All lies are lies. Even religion has it that liars won't inherit the kingdom. In most cities, liars are burnt. How did you feel about lies told? It's just that in some situations, we feel it's necessary to tell a lie especially when threatened.

For example, robbers threatened you to tell the truth. You know fully well if you tell the truth you may end up losing a lot of things. Due to the severity of the attack, you tell a lie to mislead them. For this contest, we're talking about lies that actually saved us. You're free to pour out your experiences, whether funny or serious.

• Have you ever been caught telling a lie? If yes, can you recall some of those lies and how it affected you positively or negatively?

• Does it pay to lie? Are deceitful jokes considered as lies?

• A woman told a customer that the price of a product is worth 100 steems whereas the price of that product is 80 steems, is she lying or doing business?
