Hello friends, I greet your all again. as I write this article to this humble community,to err my view on the current happening in our country now...
Have u all noticed , that if you go on social media , you bound to see an occurrence of accident or when reading news papers you must stumble on a case of road accident.. which is now becoming too rampart in our country Nigeria.
At. First.. hearing about accidents I thought it was always the fault of reckless driving..not until I witnessed an accident that happened right in front of me... Although it happened so fast but I would tell us how it happened .
But before I go into that details , The advent of technology into our everyday life, have made living very easy for human..but still it has also caused more harm to humans than it has helped us
Since the introduction of different means of transportation, in Nigeria, there have been an increase in deaths caused by accidents mostly by road, as it is considered to be one of the common and affordable means of transportation. And as people are becoming too reckless by not obeying traffic rules, and Also other factors which I would discuss shortly .
Back to our story
A Road Accident I Witnessed
I was on my back from the school where I teach, I decided to down to a junction of a very busy road in lagos that was when it happened.
On this fateful day the sun was shining bright in the sky and the road was really busy with steady traffic on one side and free movement on the other side , I was by the round about... listening to music as I waited for cab pull over so I could enter....
Just as I was about to enter the cab. I noticed
A truck coming from the other side.. about to go through the round about...then we heard a loud bang .. the accident happened.. we Rushed to resuce the victims and administer first aid before further harm could be done.....the victims where rushed to the closest hospital...
It was a shocking and sudden experience Thank God no life was lost...
Then from this I came to a conclusion that not all accidents are caused by fault of driving... and There are other factors that contribute to road accidents.
Causes of road accident

The causes of accidents on road varies from human factor to natural factors to mechanical factor and I would be listing the major five causes of road accidents
- Carelessness: in Nigeria today one of the major causes of road accident is as a result of Carelessness on the part of road users. Both drivers and pedestrians. For example a girl trying to cross the road without looking left or right
Bad Roads : Bad roads causes 50% of the accidents we hear or witness and it as a result of poor maintenance of the road..
Over speeding: most times when road users mostly drivers are in a hurry to get to their destination they then to go past their speed limit which results in over speeding , and he might not be able to control his vehicle when an emergency situation arises.
Drinking while Driving: in Nigeria anyone found drinking while driving can be punished by the law, this is because a driver under the influence of alcohol won't be able to control him self and that of his vehicle due to the effects of the alcohol there by causing accident
Lack of maintenance: it is very paramount and important to Take our vehicles
for proper check up or car servicing least once a week before putting on the road for maximum efficiency of the vehicle , knowing that if a vehicle is not checked on a regular basis it can experience failure which can lead to accident.
