What do you understand by both terms (fairly used / Brand new product)

The term "Fairly Used" is a Nigerian colloquialism, it is an informal expression used in casual conversation for describing second-hand goods that are in good working condition. Basically, a fairly used good is a "used good", a pre-owned or second-hand.
In my personal dictionary of Nigerian colloquialism, the opposite of Fairly Used is Tear-Rubber or Fresh. While under the thesaurus for Fairly Used we have Belgium, London use, tukumbor, ook, or okrika.
All describing an item that has had a previous owner, it was used but is now available for sale as second-hand.
A brand new item, on the other hand, is new and you will be its first user. It is expected to come sealed in a pack or wrapped with proof that it has never been used.

Have you ever found yourself struggling to make this decision, If so, What did you go for?

When it boils down to choosing between a brand new and a fairly used item, most people depend on one out of these two perspective and schools of thought.

New is better:
Because it is new, it is good, it is an improvement over the old one. The old one was likely not good enough, and that is why we have this one.

Old is proven:
From the other perspective, it is believed that because it's old, it's been tested and proven and has already worked out its kinks, making it more reliable.

As for me, the choice depends on the item, its use and my expectations. After careful consideration, I resolved to either buy the brand new or the fairly used one.

Why did you go for a fairly used or brand new item after careful consideration

Just recently, I noticed that the fairly used computer keyboards and mice we get were more durable compared to brand-new keyboards in the local market. So, I buy a fairly used keyboard and mouse for myself and my clients.

Fairly used phones often come with outdated Android versions like version 4 or 7, while we need version 10, 11 or higher with new advanced features and a more durable battery life. So when it comes to a good phone, I would buy a brand new phone any time.

For aesthetics, I will buy a brand new shoe, but for durability, I will go for a fairly used shoe, with real premium leather and glue that will last the shoe's lifetime.

While some items like food, workbooks and exercise books can not have fairly used versions. Leaving us with no choice except the brand new.

Was there any regret for the choice you made?

Because we have a lot of substandard products among the brand new in our local market, I have no regret buying a fairly used keyboard or mouse for my computer.
But in the case of phones and television, it is best to go for the brand new and I do not regret that decision. I am still enjoying my GalaxyA15 phone. My Tv is compatible with many modern devices becaus it is new.
Similarly, a fairly used battery would have used most of its charge cycle, and due to its short lifespan, a fairly used battery is not a good investment. I do not regret buying brand-new batteries.
