Having fun with Electronics
My Aspirations
What was your dream profession and why did you aspire to become a professional in that field
It was one day in our chemistry class, right there in the chemistry laboratory. The chemistry teacher who had become fond of moulding us beyond his chemistry lessons in one of his mentoring sessions went around asking each student to loudly say what they would love to be in terms of profession.
That day, we had a lot of Doctors, Pharmacists, petrochemical engineers and some whose lack of confidence made it feel like they were just saying what others said.
When I was asked. I remember telling the class I would love to be an Electronics and Civil engineer. It was obvious that no one had mentioned these, and the combination felt weird.
The teacher asked me to explain. Likely he wanted to be sure if I understood what I was hoping for. So I explained that civil engineers build structures like roads, bridges and buildings, and I added that I was also fascinated with creating and working with electronic devices. He commended my desire to follow a unique path and wished me luck. I could feel a lot of sincerity in his words.
What is your present reality? Did you pursue it or found another interesting path along the way?
I went around circles and hit the bullseye at the end. I could not get an institution that would help me achieve my goals so I engaged in a distance learning program with the Cleveland Institute of Electronics
I later got admission into the electrical electronics department of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, where I got a National diploma. I was taught how to install electrical wiring, draw and interpret building plans, build electronic circuits and some amount of computer repairs and troubleshooting.
I moved on to Heritage Polytechnic, ran a pre HND and got a Higher National diploma in computer science. Enhanced my tech skills with the International Management and Finance Institute. Don't mind the big name. It was the local ICT authority of its time. There I studied Computer hardware engineering. Worked with IBBIL SLIP, another local ICT authority.
After fulfilling some of my electronic dreams, today I am using the knowledge of electrical installation and building plans to work in construction sites, Supervising electrical installations and setting out.
Why did you change your dream profession If you did & why didn't you change if you didn't?
I did not intentionally hold on to my dreams; I just loved them, and my choices kept me in and around them. My love for civil engineering led me to acquire the knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit, software used by architects and draft men to draw building plans.
While working as tech support, I had to deal closely with computer hardware, which is electronics.
Is there any regret for what you do today?
Many years down the line, that dream is still on. Sustaining an active link between civil engineering and electronics. Down to this very moment, I feel accomplished and satisfied exploring electronics, computers and building as a hobby and a source of revenue.
I do not regret my decision, instead, I am exploring the length and width of electrical, electronics, computers, architecture and construction.

Conclusion
Our words can be our greatest motivation. It has the ability to challenge and push us to grow, Inspire and uplift. It has a profound effect on our mindset; my words subconsciously shaped my choices and outcomes, Boosted my confidence and fostered resilience. When installing Acrobat Reader, it often had a quote that said, "If you can dream it, then you can do it."
The dreams of those who can dream aloud often come true in whole or in part.
