Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 81: Being Responsible.

Hello, friends in the Steem4Nigeria community. I am happy to participate in this accelerator contest for week 81. The topic under discussion this week is responsibility, what it means, how it is expressed, the effects of irresponsibility and the rewards of being responsible.

Responsibility is built from the word respond which means to answer. Responsible means being able to respond or answer for their actions and decisions. [Responsible ~ Able to respond]

Being responsible carries the idea of accountability, dependability and trustworthiness.

What does being responsible mean to you?

It means cleaning after our mess and taking care of the situations we created. The readiness to accept the consequences of our actions is the foundation of responsibility.

I broke the flower vase, and now I have to replace it. That is responsibility.

The flower vase is broken, please call my mother. That is being irresponsible.

A poor man with 6 kids who are not well-fed and are not going to school is irresponsible.

What are some ways you can be more responsible in your daily life?

It is a sign of responsibility when we walk or drive on the road with safety in mind. School is over around 1 pm to 3 pm, so being more responsible means driving slowly around school areas at such times.
Being in class to teach because that is what my employer is paying me for is a more responsible thing to do.
Paying NEPA bills on time is a responsible thing to do. Things as simple as not forgetting your personal stuff all over the place, in the bus, public offices and other places visited. Always keep your promises and be bound by your words.

What happens when someone isn't responsible?

Bypassing prepaid meters is both dishonest and irresponsible and can lead to a hefty fine, embarrassment and imprisonment. An irresponsible person often loses the respect of the people around him.
Nobody wants to trust an irresponsible person with a job because he may not accomplish it and will not own up to the consequences.

What are some good things that come from being responsible?

A responsible person gets the respect and admiration of the people around him. They are often trusted to perform tasks or represent others. Responsible persons are more suitable for leadership roles. Responsible persons maintain better relationships because they care about their actions, knowing that they come with consequences.

Being responsible requires hard work but is also more rewarding. I would rather be responsible and address the situation instead of irresponsibly try to pass it to someone else.
