Hello friends
I love this topic because I have been a victim which I would share with you today.
What do you understand by both terms (fairly used / Brand new product) |
---|
Fairly used are items or products that have been used by the owners before been sold to be bought again by other users. It doesn't matter how long the product or items were used as long as it has been used, it is fairly used.

Although fairly used product are not over used that is why it can still be sold again. Most times fairly used are more affordable than new ones.
There are many fairly used items like kitchen utensils such as pot, plates, spoons. Kitchen equipments such as gas, oven, microwave, washing machine, freezer, refrigerator. Home appliances and furnitures such as television, laptops , home theater, cushions and many other things even down to fairly used phones.

While brand new products are items that have never been used before after been manufactured. Sometimes we call these kinds of products tear rubber. Brand new products are seen to be more expensive than fairly used.
It's is amazing to know that some people prefer to use fairly used products than new ones not because they can't afford new ones but because they feel the fairly used products last longer or are more authentic.

While we have fairly used products we also have brand new products such as phones, bed, tv stand, generator, solar panels, television, clothes, jewelries, Air conditioners, and many more.
Have you ever found yourself struggling to make this decision, If so, What did you go for? |
---|
With the high rise in prices of items, many people I know has resulted to buying fairly used items almost every day and I do not blame them at all.
Over here in Nigeria things are so expensive that the prices goes off almost every 3 hours. I remember buying a product and coming back the next day to buy it just to discover the price has changed.
Yes I have found my self struggling to make a decision of which I should go for, fairly used or brand-new couple of times.

The most recent one happened sometimes last year when I wanted to get a standing fan for my appointment. I wanted to cut cost because I had a lot of bills on me. The money I had was allocated to many other things so I made the decision to go for the fairly used standing fan.
The fairly used standing was sold to me at 13,000 naira(65 steem) while the new fan cost 26,000 naira(130 steem). A difference of 13,000 naira( 65 steem). It looked reasonable enough right? Since I was going to channel the remaining 13,000 naira( 65 steem) to other things.
Why did you go for a fairly used or brand new item after careful considerations |
---|
I went for the fairly used fan which cost 13000 naira( 65 steem) because I had a lot of financial demands at that time so the price looked reasonable to me.
Secondly I went for the fairly used fan because I just wanted to manage it because I also had plans to get an air conditioning system in my apartment. Since I wasn't ready yet I decided to get something that it's price is lesser.
Third I did because I was assured by the seller that the fan was a good one and would serve me well.
Was there any regret for the choice you made? |
---|
Yes there was!
Seriously the fan didn't work as I expected. At first it worked so well. Infact the fan only worked for one week.
After one week the fan developed faults like loud noise and at the end the fan blade stopped rotating. I took the fan to the place I bought. The man I bought it is an electrician, he fixes things.
He took the fan and fixed it and told me it was working, there was no light to prove his claims so I took it home. The same issues continued when I switched on the fan to check it.
I got tired of the fan that I had to stay for weeks without a fan. It was a terrible experience for me. Finally I decided to sell back the fan to the man I bought it from. Guess what the fan was sold back to him for 5,000 naira (25 steem). Can you imagine. The same person I bought it from , bought the fan from me at that price because he refused to refund me back my money. I made a loss of 21000 naira( 105 steem).
I ended up going to buy a brand new fan that same day.
Seriously it thought me a great lesson I won't forget. Although there are items I have bought as fairly used that has really worked for me like my freezer. I think it was after I bought my freezer I decided to try out the fan but it ended up very bad.

Interesting - we simply call used products second hand or resale... For us, fair trade means that the producers have received fair pay for their labour and work under good conditions.
By the way, of course you ‘only’ lost 60 Steem. You only paid 65 instead of the new price ;-))
