The Power Of Shared Joy

In life, it is observed that you have the tendency to attract what you celebrated. I have noticed that oftentimes, when good things happened to my friends or people around me and I celebrate with them, it will not be long and I will receive similar good, or something different or even higher. This goes to show that one is likely to attract what they celebrate. I believe that this is part of the reasons this phrase was made - "rejoice with the people who rejoice." There is something adorable when you share in someone's joy. Even if your own good is yet to come, it has a way of reminding you that your own is possible.

When you learn to celebrate people's successes, their wins, achievements, and blessings, it is not just for entertainment, neither does it show kindness alone, but it strengthens friendship and relationship, builds trust, and unity. You will agree with me that you are more likely going to be drawn towards being friends with someone who always comes around to celebrate even your little wins, than someone who does not. You do not have to wait until they have achieved something significant before you celebrate with them. Even for their little wins, you can still extend felicitation to them. This will also encourage them to go for even higher wins.

Sharing in someone's joy fosters deep connection between you and the person. People normally remember who stood by them in their moments of celebration because this is part of what friendship signifies and this is also part of our duty to humanity. You do not only have to stand by people in sorrow or when they are grieving, you also need to stand by them in their moments of celebration. As a matter of fact, someone who is only present in your moment of grief but never comes around when you are celebrating does not wish you well and is not your friend. I mean, are they wishing that only bad will befall you so they can sympathise with you? You know your true friends by who also come around to share in your joy without feeling jealous or envious that the good thing happened to you and not them.

One of the reasons why some people do not deem it fit to rejoice with others is envy. They tend to compare themselves with others and then see themselves as failing back, and as such, they become envious when things work for others and not for them. What they forget is that celebrating someone does not stop your own from coming. Sharing in someone's joy is not a subtraction but an addition to you. I read something sometimes ago about a psychological study that was conducted and it was discovered that those who celebrate with others will have reduced stress because they experience more happiness themselves and more satisfaction.

In the community, even in your neighborhood and among your friends, rejoicing with others removes your mentality from unhealthy competition. There are things that you may not even know is possible or doable, but when you see someone achieve it, it will give you the motivation that it is also possible in your hands. When you go to celebrate with them, they will be likely to tell you what they did that brought them the success. When you do the same, you will also experience the same achievement.

There is also unity and harmony that is delivered when people have others at heart; not feeling threatened by their successes, but celebrating them. More so, a success to one person can also become part of your own success. In a team like football for example, when one person scores a goal, other players will also celebrate with him because the goal is part of the win for the team. In the same way in life, the win for one person, more often than not, becomes a win for the community. So whenever good things are happening to someone, always learn to celebrate with them. Not only can it facilitate your own, but others will also come around to celebrate you when it happens.
