Dear diary

However If anything can be said about my day in simple terms is that ,it started with energy and ended with satisfaction. From morning training to farm labor, then processing cassava for garri, every minute was occupied with something to do and not to stay idle. No games at all! The day passed so quickly, but every step I tooked on my day had its own unique feeling.

My Morning Activities 🌅

As usual, I got up very early, did some stretching, and geared up for training. My body was still half asleep, but the minute I arrived at the training ground, I had no choice but to wake up. The beautiful sky at that moment and the morning rising sun in the sky made me to took my phone and clicked on an image. My body was not smiling at all, but I kept on going. Sweat trickled down my face, muscles cried, but the determination kept me moving. Even before the training ended, my body had lightened, and I knew that I had done very well.

But that was not the end of it—farm work too was awaiting me. As soon as I came back, I didn't even rest. I just went straight into the farm, where the cassava was all standing upright and fully ready to be harvested. I harvested some and got to work.

Well, peeling cassava looks easy, but it takes a long time, to pill them all especially if it was much. Luckily, my cousin was there to help, so we pealed, tossed, and picked until we had peeled enough quantities. We then took the peeled cassava to the man who grinds it ,locally called- (Ete okok iwa).

He ground the cassava so fast because his machine was new, grinding the cassava into mashes was his next step. We placed the processed cassava in bags so that water could seep out. Since it would take time to dry, we left it with the man and went back home.

My Afternoon🏜️ Activities

When we got home, it was well past noon—around 3 PM. The sun was not smiling to anyone and I was experiencing the heat sinking onto me, I must say it was really damn hot . So guess the perfect remedy we took!?...... Yeah it was Fresh coconut!

We cracked open some coconuts, drank the coconut water right from the shell. Ahhh, pure blessing at that moment! The coldness and sweetness of the coconut water was just what I needed to reactive myself with energy. After we had consumed the liquid, we scooped out the flesh and ate it very slowly to enjoy it,taking each bite. That simple joy of eating fresh coconut made the afternoon peaceful and comforting for us.

Time passed faster than I expected, and before we knew it, the day had already rush into the evening. But we still had another work to do—the garri had to be fried.

My Evening🌄 Activities

We returned to the man to bring back the water-drained cassava. He had drained the water very well. We paid him 2,000 naira (around 10 steem), we took the cassava, and brought it to our home.

Arriving home we shiftered the dried Cassava poured it on the frying pan and began frying. I believe we all know that, this is a time-consuming process that needs much patience. The fire was hot, and we took turns turning and stirring to ensure the garri not to be burn. The scent of fresh garri filled the air, and all the effort we made was worth it.

Following all the step we took in frying the garri which includes:stirring, frying, and sweating, the garri was finally done. We filled it into container, making sure that everything was well stored. At the sight of the well-packed garri, I could not help but feel content and satisfy. There is something about cooking at home ,you simply enjoy it more better than buying it outside. With the day's work at last completed, I took my bath, washing away all tiredness and worry.

My Dinner was simple but sweet and satisfying meal which was—beans with fried plantains and yam, a Nigerian favourite meal to gain protein. As a grand final for my day I ate two mangoes, allowing its sweetness to place everything in my tummy in harmony, satisfaction and a job well done all through the day.

My body was by this time crying out for sleep. I laid down, my thoughts looking back at the day—the training, farm, garri production process, and all the little things in between. All these together made my whole day worth of hard work and fulfillment.

Sleep got the better side of my day, and before I knew it, the day was gone.
