Hello my steemian friends,
This is my participation in the contest” Contest Alert || The Power of Small Actions by @deepak94 in Hindwhale Community
I also want to invite here @ridwant @josepha and @solperez
My family consists of only 6 members, which includes my wife, my son, my daughter-in-law, and my 13-year-old granddaughter and 11-year-old grandson. Actually, all the members of my family spend time together happily, and there is never any argument.
But a few days ago, my son bought a new mobile phone for himself and his mother, and thus the two old mobiles that were left were given to the grandchildren without inserting a SIM card so that they can use them for their virtual class meetings.
At my home, there is a 150 gbps internet Wi-Fi connection, so both the kids created Snapchat IDs on their phones and started video calling with their friends by creating groups. Initially, we also liked it, but later they started getting addicted to it. And even during dinner time, most of the family members used to be busy on their phones.
So, I decided to make a small change in my house—no member should keep a phone at the dinner table. At first, it felt weird and a little uncomfortable, especially for my grandson and granddaughter who were used to scrolling on social media.
But with time, that one rule of mine changed my family’s life. We started having deep conversations, laughing more and feeling more connected. Our kids also started waiting for dinner to talk about their day.
This small but strong action of mine of keeping the phone away for just 30-40 minutes every day brought the whole family closer to each other.
After this, they started telling me about their school problems, their personal life problems and their small things at the dinner table. Taking advantage of this change, I convinced my grandson to get a coaching class in a cricket academy and my granddaughter to get a coaching class in a badminton academy for 2 hours each. This has had a positive impact on their health.
Such small decisions can bring big changes in our lives, but you will have to put in a lot of effort to implement them.
Thanks for reading my post, I pray to God for the progress and happy future of all Steemians.
Sur-riti❤️

Thank you Mr Chemist, no doubt some actions are small but powerful, like some people start affecting people in a very short period of time, like you.
