This day is celebrated to commemorate the courage, sacrifices and bravery of the Pakistan Army in the 1965 war. On September 6, 1965, India attacked Pakistan, after which war broke out between the two countries. This day reminds us how Pakistani forces and the nation have made unparalleled sacrifices in defense of their motherland. Background and origins of the war After the partition of India, tensions and conflicts between Pakistan and India became a norm, with the biggest issue being Kashmir. International observers termed these attacks as a huge blow to the Indian Air Force. The Pakistan Navy also blocked India's advance on Karachi port and destroyed Indian aircraft and radar systems at Dwarka.
