Winter doesn't joke

Winter began on time, and not like in previous years. Does not spare either snow or frost. They just learned how to clear the city from an unexpected abundance of snow, trying to use different techniques, but in the village at grandma’s, everything, as always, is for real.

The ice on the river is still unstable, breaks away from the banks and floats in ice floes, but there are already places where fishermen are not afraid to go out on it and begin winter fishing. I’m scared to look at it from the outside, but they’re not afraid of anything. Perhaps each of them had already floated on an ice floe more than once, waiting for help, or somehow got out of this adventure himself.

I don’t really understand what’s the point in taking risks and freezing, spending the whole day on the ice, for the sake of some small fish. I’m not a fisherman at all, even in the summer, and this is completely incomprehensible to my mind. These people have a lot of free time and they can afford to spend it like this.

Like this, on the edge of the ice for the sake of their tail and scales... I, of course, envy that they don’t freeze like I do.
