You can only help those who truly want to help themselves.
I completely agree with this statement.
Regarding charity. Donating money is very important, but sometimes people seem to want to buy off someone's misfortune by simply throwing money at it. Often other help is needed - time, effort or even a kind word.
Financial help can make a difference - no doubt about it. But true compassion often shows in the time, care, and emotional support we offer. Sometimes just being there for someone matters more than anything money can buy.
So true.
We have a saying by our Prophet - The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
"Every good deed is charity. Indeed, it is a good deed to meet your brother with a smiling face..."
(Sahih Muslim)
By brother, he meant, our fellow beings.
