There are successes in life that you can only attain when you follow the due process. I remember when I was in secondary school, during one of our Chemistry practicals, the teacher told us that, "while diluting acid with water, that the acceptable way to do so is to pour the acid into the water, and not the other way round." Due to the fact that none of us had heard such statement before then, he then explained the reason why the rule is there and why we should follow the methods - to avoid splash. Imagine if we had decided to go with the shortcut, it would have been catastrophic. Similarly, in life, one of the reasons behind the lack of success that is experienced by a lot of people is that they ignore the processes and the methods.

Whatever you want to achieve in life will always place a demand on you to follow certain processes and observe the required methods. It is weird to see people hope to get the result but do not take time to observe every required step. The sincere truth is that if you want an outstanding success, then you have to understand that you will not get it by shortcuts. From my little knowledge of agriculture which I picked up during the times I stayed with a relative who was a farmer, I learnt that different plants have different germination and growth rate. If you want mango, then you have to go through the process of waiting. You cannot plant mango and expect to harvest as quickly as someone who plants maize.
You may have a dream of what to achieve and the idea may look so awesome. However, you need to know the processes and methods that are involved in turning your ideas into something tangible. It is when you have fulfilled the demands involved in these that you will experience true success. It is true that shortcuts can give you some initial gratification or quick result, but it may become weak and may not last with time. For example, a student that only crams or indulges in other acts to pass their exams may seem like a result, but when they are go out and meet a real world challenge, they will become cracked because they are not rooted. This is why you have to stick to the methods and the processes. The journey may take a while, but the destination will be sure and certain.
Every step that you take on the process of undertaking your dreams will build you up. If you have ever watched where civil engineers build house, you will understand this. For the house to be built, each piece of block or brick will be placed on each other step-by-step. If you miss a steps, the structural integrity of the house will be compromised. For example, if the foundation is skipped and then they go straight to the walls, there will be a problem, and the house may even collapse. Similarly in life, when you try to jump a process or bypass the normal procedures, it may lead to serious consequences.
There is a reason why a student has to go through years in the medical school before becoming a medical doctor, not just awarding a random person a medical degree without passing through medical school - because they will become a threat to the lives of people. The process may take time, the methods may not be easy, but at the end, the result will be worth it.

You will agree with me that the time it will take to produce a Mercedes Benz GLE is not the same time it will take to produce a tricycle - the former will take more time. But at the end, the Mercedes will be worth more. The longer the process, and bigger the expected result. This is why it not not fair to compare yourself with the people who seem to be succeeding faster, because you have different pathways and destinies.
Sustainable success is not just about arriving at the destination, but it also includes who you become along the way, and how the journey has shaped you. When you respect the process and the progress, you will build character, develop capability and then become a better person.
