As a proud member of the ladies' community in the physical world (not the digital one), it comes with its own mix of perks and challenges. While you learn so many new things , it can be a tad exhausting and overwhelming. Gone are the days when simplicity was the name of the game. Now, everything has to be fancy, out of this world—literally, everything needs to be out of the box!

A Culinary competition was arranged here at my small community. I was a part of table setting team for this competition.

Below are some of the highlights of this event.

Starting with the card of invitation for entries:

While the culinary competition should focus merely on the presentation and plating of the dish, here at our club, there is an added aspect to factor in—the table setting. It's different from setting the dining table or table arrangement. Each participant is designated a space, and she has to sort of decorate it.

Erm - We never have, so to speak, many volunteering volunteers here 😉, but we are always able to amass a visible strength of volunteers. Please do tell me in comments that you understood what I meant 🤣

But this friend of mine, @event-horizon, took part in the competition as a volunteering volunteer. "That's the spirit حرا . I owe you one".

She has also written a post about her culinary wins.

Another friend, @the-gorilla, has shown interest in the table setting and probably dishes of the other entries in the comments under her post. So here, I'm honoring his request. After all, he is doing all the facelifting for Steemit. Anything for you, gorilla.

I'll be sharing photos of some entries, including some from my camera and others I received from friends.

Let's start with event-horizon's table, that we set for her Banoffee pie. The girl won third prize for it. Woohoo! 🎉

Final presentation

There was a lot of planning and effort behind this seemingly simple setting. The theme was kept elegant with white and gold. You can see mirror boxes in the background, and it was made even more attractive with these bulbs. We had to source everything from our homes, considering we have very limited resources when it comes to things like these.

Before & After food placement setting of table for bread rolls

The theme we thought of was black and white with a touch of gold. Fairy lights and lanterns were used to enhance the look. Wall mirrors were used for cutlery placement. Can you appreciate the cute little tear-shaped bowls for dips?

There was one very interesting entry. Aesthetic or not; elegant or otherwise - but I did find it very intriguing and unique:)

While, I was setting the tables for my girls, I noticed this very out-of-the box entry. I'm going to share the close-ups of her dish.

Spinach Cheese Quiche

This entry won second in savory and rightfully so. It tasted awesome as well.

I will only touch briefly on the other entries, as I didn't have much of an input in those.

The first prize winner - Cobbler's Berry. There were some glazes/dips on the side, which I couldn't capture in a hurry

another interesting entry - a famous food in punjab, saag & makai roti

There were some other entries also but the picture quality doesn't allow me to share those with you.

I felt quite exhausted at the end of the event, prompting me to ponder the entire concept of these competitions. Is there any positive outcome from them? Do we gain new insights? And, most importantly, are they necessary when we never have many volunteers? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Signing off now with some jumbled up thoughts 😉

You made a good team - your entry definitely looked better than the winner!

Thank you ☺️

Lovely decor I’m sure the food tasted as good as these decorations are!! Marvelous job done by all the participants!!

Every thing was scrumptious. 😋

All the tables look more modern than traditional - I'm amazed...!

Me too - people were so creative.
They brought everything from their homes!
The food was supreme in terms of taste and presentation...

I can see you had a lot of fun ))) Well done.

I didn't understand about volunteers until the end, the literal translation through an interpreter looks strange)))))

I see the point of such events not only in getting new ideas. Much more important is communication, the emotions you got. It really makes a difference )

We need "volunteers" for these contests.
We also have kind of big boss to answer to 🤣

And so we have to kind of bring in a few "forced" volunteers. Very gentle forcing...

Big Boss thinks they have participated "voluntarily" 😜

There are always incentives and lots of fruitful learning in the end. Participants usually enjoy the process.

It's only that they are reluctant in the beginning, especially the first-timers.

I have also participated in a few, some voluntarily and some otherwise, but I have learned so much. It's fun and engaging. It's thrilling, and the rush of adrenaline is like nothing else.

we call it "voluntary-coercive" )))))

Sometimes it is necessary :)

у нас это называется "добровольно-принудительно" )))

Иногда это бывает необходимо :)

By all means

🖐 😊 👍
