Today I wanted to take part in this challenge that is because it is something that I really enjoy doing, I love sketching and painting. When I have time I try to practice regular.
When choosing animals I decided to take a cute cat, in general I love cats and when I was a child I had twice different cats. I love their nice and warm fur and also that often if they would like something from human they can be so cute they will follow you and look with such eyes that nobody will be able to resist that. That is why I always gave some milk and some meat to my cat, although my parents were not happy with that.
This is the first rough sketch I used graphite pencil of 2B strength. It is soft and also light, it is easy to use for drawing and if you need to erase you can simply do it and it is not too messy pencil.
I used my sketch book that I usually use for quick sketch works.
Here is now time to start up shading, you have to pay attention to the direction of light, for me it is right side, that means that side will be slightly lighter and left side is slightly darker.
For any portrait no matter if it is peopple or animals you have to make sure that facial features have precise and fine details. If you managed to create face or head well then the whole appearance of a character will be fine. I used my eraser to create whiskers. Also the eyes are very important. I hope you like my painting of a little kitten.
