Was April what you expected?

 

April is one of the month that usually very positive for me, one of the reasons is that it is becoming warm, we have long days and also we do not need to wear warm clothes and it is time to get out in fresh air and visit open spaces. Of course, another reason is that is the time of finishing one year of university and closing up a long studying time with completed projects and sleepless nights. It is a great feeling when you have done your work and think: there is nothing I could have done more and it is time to submit it. The best is when you have given it away and it is a feeling of Freedom. Of course, you still do not know the result but you know that you have done your best and now can relax.

 

We're celebrating Labor Day. Are you proud of the work you do every day?

 

For me 1st of May is quite usual day, I know that it is worldwide is Labour day but I do not really know if it is something that should be celebrated. Over here in UK, we had normal working day and me and my friends also did not really do anything special. It was this time Thursday and actually I have not noticed anything different. The only difference here was we have had wonderful, sunny days and we spend a lot of it outside. A feeling of approaching summer is great and for us, t he time for ice-cream, that we really enjoyed with a little sun bath in cafe.

 

Are there any special dates this month?

 

There is a special day this month and it is a birthday of my grandma. She never liked to celebrates and she does not pay any attention to it but she knows that we all going to surprise her. Actually I think she knows that very well. Every time when we come along as a surprise visit she prepares everything such as nice freshly cooked food and she bakes something special. She is very good baker, every time it is something different and it is not only we surprise her but she likes to surprise us with her new creative baking. I love this day. This time I hope that the weather is great. Usually we sit in garden and usually we have nice weather in May.

 

Do you have expectations, goals, or plans to achieve this month?

 

For me the goals are to get some summer job for my long summer holidays so that I could spend them both earning some pocket money and also to get practical skills. Of course, summer is time for holiday, that is why when I applied I left two weeks off the application that is saved for my trip the Netherlands. I did not want to travel far but also the reason it is then too expensive and this destination is easy to reach and also accommodation is affordable. Of course, I hope to receive the results of my project and I hope that I have good marks that is important for the future years but also for the selection process when I will be applying for my jobs later.

 

In May, we celebrate Mother's Day. How do you plan to honor your mom? Or, failing that, how do you remember her?

 

I think a person should honour their parents all the time and not only on that certain holiday. One have to think and care of both mother and father all the time, to respect them, to give them attention that they give us children and be for them there. I am very close with my mother and it does not need to be Mother’s day for me to do something differently. I think this day we just go together in the city wonder along the shopping street, chat and then later on have a nice hot drink with scones.

¿Abril fue lo que esperabas?

 

Abril es uno de los meses que suelo ser muy positivo para mí. Una de las razones es que empieza a hacer calor, tenemos días largos y, además, no necesitamos ropa de abrigo, y es momento de salir a tomar aire fresco y visitar espacios abiertos. Por supuesto, otra razón es que es el momento de terminar un año de universidad y cerrar un largo periodo de estudio con proyectos terminados y noches sin dormir. Es una sensación genial cuando terminas tu trabajo y piensas: "No hay nada más que pudiera haber hecho y es hora de entregarlo". Lo mejor es cuando lo entregas y es una sensación de libertad. Claro, aún no sabes el resultado, pero sabes que lo has hecho lo mejor posible y ahora puedes relajarte.

 

Estamos celebrando el Día del Trabajo. ¿Estás orgulloso del trabajo que haces cada día?

 

Para mí, el 1 de mayo es un día bastante habitual. Sé que a nivel mundial se celebra el Día del Trabajo, pero no sé si debería celebrarse. Aquí en el Reino Unido, tuvimos un día laborable normal, y mis amigos y yo tampoco hicimos nada especial. Era jueves a esta hora y, la verdad, no he notado nada diferente. La única diferencia es que aquí hemos tenido días soleados maravillosos y pasamos mucho tiempo al aire libre. La sensación de que se acerca el verano es genial, y para nosotros, la época del helado, que disfrutamos mucho con un pequeño baño de sol en una cafetería.

¿Hay alguna fecha especial este mes?

Hay un día especial este mes: es el cumpleaños de mi abuela. Nunca le ha gustado celebrar y no le presta mucha atención, pero sabe que todos la vamos a sorprender. De hecho, creo que lo sabe muy bien. Cada vez que la visitamos por sorpresa, prepara todo tipo de cosas, como comida recién hecha y hornea algo especial. Es muy buena repostera; cada vez es algo diferente, y no solo la sorprendemos, sino que a ella le encanta sorprendernos con sus nuevas creaciones. Me encanta este día. Espero que esta vez haga buen tiempo. Normalmente nos sentamos en el jardín y en mayo solemos tener buen tiempo.

¿Tienes expectativas, objetivos o planes para este mes?

Mi objetivo es conseguir un trabajo de verano durante mis largas vacaciones para poder ganar algo de dinero y adquirir habilidades prácticas. Claro que el verano es época de vacaciones, por eso, cuando solicité el viaje, reservé dos semanas para mi viaje a los Países Bajos. No quería ir lejos, pero también porque es demasiado caro, este destino es fácil de alcanzar y el alojamiento es asequible. Por supuesto, espero recibir los resultados de mi proyecto y obtener buenas calificaciones, lo cual es importante para los próximos años, pero también para el proceso de selección cuando solicite empleos más adelante.

En mayo celebramos el Día de la Madre. ¿Cómo planeas honrar a tu mamá? O, si no, ¿cómo la recuerdas?

Creo que uno debería honrar a sus padres en todo momento, no solo en esa festividad en particular. Hay que pensar y cuidar tanto a la madre como al padre en todo momento, respetarlos, darles la atención que nos brindan a los hijos y estar ahí para ellos. Tengo una relación muy estrecha con mi madre y no hace falta que sea el Día de la Madre para hacer algo diferente. Creo que ese día simplemente podemos pasear juntos por la calle comercial, charlar y luego tomar una bebida caliente con scones.
