Show how you clean the litter. If you had to make any changes to the interior, show them and explain why. Adjust the height of the feeder and waterer. How often do you clean the litter? |

I always spread a plastic shopper at the bottom of the broiler box first to keep it clean. I also sprinkle fresh bran on top, which keeps the area dry and helps absorb the chicks' droppings. I take out the old bran and shopper and replace them with new ones whenever it becomes unclean or begins to smell.
I typically check it every day and make any necessary changes. This makes their living space cozy and hygienic for the chicks' healthy development and helps shield them from illness.
The chicks began jumping into the water bowl and feeder as they grew, I noted. I thus used smaller blocks or any other support I could find around the house to raise both a bit higher, to their breast level.

They have to extend a little in order to eat and drink, which also improves their leg strength. Not much else in the box needed to be changed, but I always make sure everything is clean to prevent infections or other health problems for the Chicks.
Tell us how this first experience with your chicks has been. Did you learn about their signs? Do they look healthy? Have you seen any of the signs mentioned above in your chicks? What action did you take? |

My chicks have only been home for two days, yet they already appear lively and playful. I was a little surprised when they began to jump into the feeding bottle. I soon saw that they require more room to walk about because they are developing swiftly. They also seem to eat frequently and have a busy schedule, which is encouraging in my opinion. I think they are healthy and adjusting well because their eyes appear bright and they run about joyfully.
I used little space to lift the feeder a little so they couldn't get inside when I saw them leap into the food. In this manner they learn how to eat healthily and their food stays clean. They appear to be doing OK so far though I do check to see if they are breathing through their mouths or napping too much. I am gradually coming to grasp their actions. I'm enjoying caring for them every day even if it's a new experience.
Buy an antibiotic to have on hand in case of an emergency. Ask for the name and dosage. |

Weigh in on day 7, add the challenge card, compare it to the growth chart, and make an observation based on the result. Record the weight on day 10 and day 14 (edit the post to add this data). |

I used to raise a lot of chickens for meat, but now I have limited capital, so I am very interested again in raising chickens to be raised and weighing up to 2 kg so they can be sold.
