Random Thoughts Before My Next Real Post

First and Foremost

Have you guys looked at 100 days of Steem lately?

More like 100 days of "How many ways can we think of to get the community to build the value for us."

Seriously though

The SMT testnet is up and running and they make no mention of it? Steem and Hive should be racing as fast as they can to get this mythical unicorn asset up and running as fast as possible. We've been blindly promising SMTs to the community for years, and it is so close to becoming a reality.

Instead Steemit continues on this journey of making proposals that the community do all the work? Obviously JSun has no plans to continue development himself. Hive needs to push SMTs so the world knows that he can't keep up with our development. We know it, sure, but the outside world just sees those dollar signs and thinks the Tron foundation has the money to fund anything.

A Steem mentoring system?

Interesting, because we were just talking about automating this process in discord with @ericwilson. You don't manually run around teaching everyone how to use Condenser... you create a much simpler frontend that only has the bare essentials, and then opens up functionality slowly while teaching the user everything. Same as the tutorials found in video games.

Gaming on Steem?

Really? And the first game you list is Drugwars? Woof.
You guys are reaching.
Why would anyone want to create a game on Steem?

If they happen to make it and become a whale then they have to worry about being frozen by the one person in control.

Why create a game on the platform when all the real devs and support and community jumped ship?

Speaking of games

I played a game of Go yesterday. First time since Oct 2018 apparently. Wiped the floor with this guy as White 141.5 points to 59. Looks like I still got it. Go is the oldest boardgame in the world (4000 years old at least). Predates Christianity; true story.

AMAZON

Operations is escalating even further with their "tactics" to stop the spread of Corona Virus. Masks are now required, and a lot of people are very annoyed by this. A quarter of associates at the facility pull the mask down under their chin because they are so annoying.

Personally I bring my own mask that was given to me by my very fearful and politically proactive girlfriend. She still manages to be very worried even though we think we already had the thing. She'll be the first one to take an antibody test when it becomes available.

It's nice to see the resistance to the masks... I hope there will be hell to pay if Amazon attempts to force vaccinations on us. I will have to go full Christian Scientist and religious freedom in that event. Fuck Bill Gates. His abysmal track record is being exposed on a daily basis, and even his doctor has come forward and said he rejected vaccinations for his own children.

Conclusion

I'm late to a gathering.
Oh wait I'm not supposed to admit that.

Sort Order:

The damn game that is the most popular that they've already got, Splinterlands, is fucking awful on the Steem blockchain right now. I am constantly getting disconnected from matches. It's infuriating when I have shit ready to go but boom, the chain burps because they don't have good witnesses running it and I lose connection to my match and lose the battle by default, even though I have time left. Automatic surrender. I know it's small potatoes to complain about compared with some stuff but they can't hope to run a legitimate platform if they can't even run simple card based games. I'm glad I'm dumping all my power down Steem into cards instead of keeping it powered up. Hoping they can move the game over to Hive at some point.

You are not under the belief that SMT development should go back to the drawing boards and start from scratch?

There was a company... which shall not be named, that tried to encourage employee camaraderie by starting a softball team.... Meaning, you all bring your own gear, your own ball, find your own diamond and play ball.

Really helpful. (there soon was a sign next to the door

The last one out please turn off the lights

With the Wuhan-flu getting caught a second time being reported, i am unsure if there will ever be an antibody test.

i haven't heard of anyone isolating them either.

And, if this continues, i will go from 99% that the vaccine is completely bogus and a means to do something else, to 100% certainty.

You are not under the belief that SMT development should go back to the drawing boards and start from scratch?

Eh? Why would we do that?

Mostly because i believe it has a inbuilt failure at a base level.
But, i never got into STEEM code because i never got in with the developers, so i have not read the code.
i am just judging by past implementations and that programmer group's seeming blindspot to compounding problems of databases over time.

Theoretically we should rebuild an document all of Hive's code.
We don't have the dev power to accomplish these things though.

I am enjoying 100 days of Steem and also...

Of course the community is supposed to build the value. Sheesh

In this context the community being expected to build the value is problematic because Steemit can siphon that value into their own pockets indefinitely. How is Steemit currently building value? All I'm seeing are huge delegations being handed out to users upvoting themselves.

Well at this point they are 4 weeks in and many of us are having fun again.

The trending page looks better and endusers are being appreciated and rewarded.

I wouldn't tell anyone to buy at this time, due to freezing, but I actually think Steem has a greater chance of building and retaining the community than Hive does.

I fully acknowledge hive got a lot of the talent. Devs and witnesses, there is no question the experience left, but on the other hand... I already know what they will focus on. Internal stuff. You can see it in their proposals and their posts.

If we just stick with what we have and actually curate,... who knows.

I have 9 weeks, so far this is an interesting phase and I like it.

I look forward to Steem succeeding rather than crashing into the mountain like my echo chamber suggests.

My biggest compliant is inability to copy an paste images esp those some how property of Amazon an post them like on FB
everything else the coding tools ease-of-use the fact that you have control over the format is heads and tails above most other platforms
Plus I'm guessing are designed to mimic Facebook and even gabs more about ease-of-use and and and control of the monopolist then freeze free wheeling an spit balling like this there's always going to be trade-offs

Don't underestimate
I randomly go to everyone's page an up vote if I like content or not
