We generally obsess over social media, specifically when we fall into that loop of comparison we are harming ourselves, this generally happens in adolescence and youth.
Social media always shows the best in people or shows that their life is the best, almost always shows the perfect trips, perfect outings, perfect relationships, etc., EVERYTHING PERFECT, this is called "the perfection filter". All this leads us to ask ourselves, why is my life not the same?

This is also slightly related to the great need to belong, let's imagine that social networks are like that BIG group of friends that we want to feel part of, that we want to belong to, most of the time we believe that to be accepted we have to be the same as them, be like everyone else.
All of this little by little, as we lose control, generates great anxiety of being recognized, we are aware of the LIKES or we wait for "I like it." This ends up becoming an addiction, like a drug that relieves us, but when we do not receive what we so much expect we despair and there our low self-esteem and insecurity emerge.
