Today I wanted to share this unique sightseeing place that you can find in Muenster, this is a city in North-Western part of Germany, the county is also called Nordrhein-Westfalen. There is rich history of this place and for tourists there are a lot of places to see.
I wanted to bring up St Lambert's Church, one of well known to many who loves history, when I learnt this church or cathedral I was fascinated seeing the cages on the top of the cathedral. Luckily we were able to capture with our camera Olympus and we were glad that the quality of the images were great.
On very first image you see the gothic style architecture, the clock that is still running and the cages, at the moment they are empty but they have their story.
The time of the establishment of this cathedral was 1375, in 16th century the area was ruled by Catholic Bishop Franz von Waldeck they were kicked out by Anabaptists and only one year later they were able to return, the Anabaptists were put in the cages and hang upon the top of cathedral to show the punishment. The original cages with bones are now in Museum and these cages that you see on my pictures are copies and just to display the history for tourists.
The building itself located in centre of city Muenster, there Prinzipalmarkt (main market square) that has old buildings on both side, the ground floor of them now occupied by different shops and boutiques. What is typical for Muenster people who live here love to ride bicycles and everyone has at least 2 bikes one for city another for off-road. The cafes all of them have tables and sits outsides so that people can enjoy their drinks watching the busy life outside.
