This is an question that I still do not have a FINAL answer to. If I repost something I wrote should I still get rewards? I think about this today as I read an older post of mine and thought that damn, I did a good job on this. I know, self-congratulatory but I really loved it. I really want to revisit and repost it cause I think is one of my best writing to date.
So, my current thinking is that yes, with some rules. But we'll get to those later.
I hate plagiarism with a passion.
I call "thieves" and I mean it to all those who steal other people's content from all medium.
As a writer, copywriter and content creator on Steemit, I live by this motto:
"Content is sacred"

We mobilized bots + the whole Steemit community to fight plagiarism and that's amazing. Seeing how united and interested in solving this problem the community is makes me feel humbled to even be part of it.
The thing is that the way Steemit UI is designed and how the payout is closed after 7 days, it makes two things happen: your old and good posts are hard to find. I admit it, not ALL my posts are amazing and I have favorite. I want for new people to see those and some are so old that your fingers will fall off before you scroll down to them.
Secondly: some of the old content is basically worthless in terms of payout. 10 views, no dollars cause it was all new and stuff. I think some deserve more but also it makes sense for something I wrote 2 years ago to still make some return.
Think of the traditional bloggers: They put out good content day in day out for years before they gathered a following and old posts that are quality but had 1 comment in 2012, have now hundreds. This is similar to what happens on Steemit right now. A lot of yet undiscovered content creators put out good articles and they get 2$ or even 100$ for posts that maybe will net them thousands in 2 years.
On a platform like wordpress, this happens organically, as new people discover someone they like they go back to read his old articles and leave comments and gather him "views" <--- this is basically money for them.
On Steemit, I feel we need to do the work ourselves.
Should we/they be allowed to re-post?
Of course, "allowed" is a word that makes no sense in the Steemit-environment. Everything is allowed. Some things are frowned upon. Community self-regulates.

One counter-argument would be that creating new content is the most important thing and as long as one can find a read old posts, the rewards are secondary. Another might be that this could lead to a lot of re-posts and laziness and would lower the quality of content..but then you'd pay the price of losing followers and attention. That's what I mean by self-regualtion.
Personally, I think this won't be the case... we're all hungry to write new stuff, like it or not.
I will and do repost stuff from time to time. My rule is that it is old enough that I think no one read it, something that I think is important to me or in general, or something is that just a good thing I wrote and that I am proud of.
I don't feel the need to announce is a repost as I am more likely than not rewrite it to some extent - fun in itself as you see yourself evolving - but maybe I should.
As the irony goes: I asked the same question about 2 years ago and I still get some replies sometimes which is pretty cool.
What's your current standing on all this?
I say as long as it’s your own work, then you should be free to do as you choose. Resteem it and let others decide if they want to upvote or not.

I have a stupid question, what happens if someone votes on something after 7 days?
do you still get paid?
If not then a repost is the best repast.

noup. nothing happens. it won't even count the upvote I think :)
I like this "repast" word. Can I use it? Is brilliant!

Firstly a system where you can easily organize your content is desperately needed, Then on your popular stuff you could post a coment from time to time encouraging people to upvote it if they liked your post.

I agree that we need a better way to organize content but as it is now, I think this won't get good returns cause no one will find the old content. Dunno what this would achieve.

Hello @razvanelulmarin !
Same question here.
But, I have find an "honnest" strategy : I have done once a post with all my posts related to the same subject. So, it had two great impact :
It's a real difficult question, because as you I don't like " plagiarism " or double content (because double content hurts the plateform in terms of SEO).
I also have this question especially with my videos (I have create an educational video a day for 6 months about Steem but it was in french and there were not much french speakers). Now, if I repost them (through Dtube for example), it will be much more usefull than it was when I created them... And because I see people don't go too far in the blog of other's people.
So... Still thinking what's the best way to do ;-)
Good luck!
