It has been a year since the last round of Steem Representative appointments.
And it has been 18 months since the last selection of communities to receive @booming support.
It is now time to revisit both of these.
Because of various issues with the @booming support system, particularly around community team members powering down, we have decided to make a major change.
@booming support will no longer be given directly to communities. Instead the selection of posts for support will be done by a new team of Steem Representatives.
The New Steem Representatives
The last round of recruitment of Steem Representatives was in April 2024.
At that time 30 Steem Reps were appointed, but since then, for various reasons, a number have resigned.
With the added responsibility of distributing @booming support the role of Steem Rep will be even more important than before.
We therefore want to select only the very best Steemians for the role.
Our initial target will be to recruit 20 Steem Representatives.
The new Representatives should have demonstrated a long term commitment to Steem, have a thorough knowledge of how Steem works, be actively engaged both within communities and beyond, and be willing to help people across the whole platform.
They should particularly be keen and willing to give advice and guidance to Steemians both new and old, both through commenting and through direct communication.
As well as generally promoting Steem, Representatives should also actively promote and support new projects and initiatives launched by Steemit Inc and Tron.
To ensure everyone has a fair chance we would like the existing Reps to reapply alongside new candidates.
We want to recruit the best, keenest and most dedicated Steemians wherever they are from.
Rewards for Steem Representatives
Steem Representatives will be rewarded in two ways - through delegations and through votes on weekly reports.
As we are keen to reward commitment to the platform, the delegation will increase according to the amount of Steem Power a Representative has…
Representatives with at least 25,000 SP will receive a delegation of 6,250 SP.
Representatives with at least 50,000 SP will receive a delegation of 12,500 SP.
Representatives with at least 100,000 SP will receive a delegation of 25,000 SP.
Steem Reps are invited to make a weekly report which will be rewarded with votes from @steemcurator01 or @steemcurator02.
As well as a review of the general activities as a Steem Rep; the report should also contain a list of all the posts they have nominated for @booming support during the week.
The reports should be posted in the Steem POD community.
Steem Reps will also be given preferential voting support for activities and contests they organise.
Applying to be a Steem Representative
As mentioned above existing Reps will need to reapply if they would like to continue as Steem Representatives.
We are also very much looking for new people to come forward to become Steem Representatives. It does not matter how many other Reps there are in your country, or how many other Steemians there are in your country.
People applying to become Steem Representatives therefore should meet the following criteria…
- Active on the platform for at least the past 6 months
- A reputation of at least 70
- Have a CSI and voting pattern that clearly demonstrates that they are already supporting other Steemians across the platform.
Because we really want to recruit the most dedicated Steemians our initial target is for Steem Reps to have at least 25,000 SP of their own (not delegated).
However we will also be accepting applications from people with lower amounts of Steem Power (down to 12,500 SP) but these will only be considered if we do not find enough suitable Reps amongst people with over 25,000 SP.
Furthermore any Reps appointed will only receive delegations once they have reached at least 25,000 SP.
Steem Reps must not have recently powered down.
Regular users of bid bots or voting services will not be considered.
To apply to become a Steem Representative you should make an application post showing clearly and succinctly how you meet all the criteria above.
You should also say, in no more than 200 words, why you think you would make a good Steem Representative.
As well as the actual content, the quality and clarity of how your post is presented will also be taken into consideration.
Application posts can be in any language. They should include the tag #steemreps2025 and your country tag in the first four tags.
Applications should be submitted by 11.59pm UTC, on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025.
We plan to announce the successful Steem Representatives by the end of May.
We hope the most talented and the most committed Steemians will apply to serve as Steem Representatives to help with the continued growth of the platform.

I like this idea because I have seen many communities whose admins and moderators done a power down and then return after a certain period to again get booming votes within their community.
It will be good and a new experience where the team of Steem Representatives will select the quality posts irrespective of the communities.

I am so excited to apply as Steem Rep and help you in this new phase where Steem Reps + Booming works as a single thing.
Please, count on me since now, I’ll do my best! I have some doubts that I wanted to clarify.
1- All selections should be made by a single person everyday?
2- What if the Steem Rep want to make a team for selections, and he works as a watcher or leader of booming selection.
3- Should I re-apply for Make Noise?

Change is indeed constant. But my concern is if all the users with big Steem power are always favored like this let the Steemit team also consider those who are sincerely working hard to build their steem power. Especially the moderators that are doing amazing well in the platform.

Thank you; that's what I have been saying that the SRs should have more power to support the Steemians directly rather than giving their own achievements as a report. I guess this would be beneficial for the platform in more than one way.
