This is my final year project proposal which i made a presentation on in February, 2018 as an undergraduate of Civil engineering at Federal university Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria.

This project is going to take me about some months to accomplish and a lot of capital (which is not readily available at the moment) is also needed.

Hence, I would like to ask for a helping hand from my fellow steemians to please assist me in raising the capital needed to accomplish my final year project.

I will be updating you on a basis about the project and I am quite sure you will learn a lot from this as well especially people that are into building construction.

ABSTRACT

The glass is the widely used and least recycled material in the country like Nigeria. Glass being non-biodegradable, landfills do not provide the proper solution in the waste management.

Other than that, the demand of cement, an important construction material has been increasing every year which has led to increase in production of cement.

Cement production is a significant source of global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

So among the various ways in utilizing the waste glass is in the concrete industry.

This paper studies the utilization of waste glass in the form of powder by partially replacing the cement and fine aggregate in mortar and concrete respectively.

For this purpose, mortar and concrete cubes will be prepared to replace cement and fine aggregate respectively with waste glass powder ranging from 0 to 30% at 10% interval and tested for mechanical properties.

That is a Picture of me grinding the waste glass (I have to do that manually myself as no machine is available in my institution to do the grinding). No doubt , I am not used to this and it is a very stressful thing but I have got no choice(money crisis) Lol!!!.

Properties of hardened mortar and concrete like compressive strength and workability will be determined for different mix combinations of materials and these values will be compared with the corresponding values of conventional mortar and concrete.

The present investigation has been aimed at to bring awareness amongst the practicing civil engineers regarding advantages of these new mortar and concrete mixes in terms of the following parameters:

Strength
Durability
Workability
Economy

Thanks for your patience

Good luck with our project, i wish you success. :)

Thank you very much sir

No problem, make sure you smash it. :D

Yes i would, Thank you very much sir but i am still trying to raise money for it and i have to start as soon as possible because i will be curing my concrete cubes upto 90days so that i can meet up with the submission deadline date.

Work hard, have faith and I'm sure you'll succeed. You can do it :)

Yeah thanks very much sir
