Yesterday I was out with some friends for dinner, and when we finished all of them paid their bills through their mobile phone or watch, which I guess is the trend now, whereas I paid in cash. They were all amused that I am still dealing in cash transactions. Till now I have only been using either my physical Credit / Debit card or cash to pay up for anything. I just find it risky being too much in to technology. Everyday I keep hearing some or the other scam, where one can lose all their money. It was just a tap and the payment was done, seemed very convenient but not safe to me. It did not even ask for pin, so if you lose it and you have not deactivated these tap services then it is a big risk of losing money from your account.
My sister works for a bank and she gets very annoyed with me when I am still stuck up with the old conventional methods of banking and payment services. But, I tell her I am fine with it, there is nothing that I am missing by not using those new technology services. Every day these scammers think of new ways to dupe people, and when something is new you can easily get cheated so I feel it's better for me to stay away from it. It's a little more activity but then it's fine.
It's just not about the phone but even on other things, I find it so complicated to use. Nowadays there are smart TVs, smart gadgets and what not. I still do not understand how this Alexa and Google command works. And my whole point is that why do we want to become so much dependent on it and be it's slave. Some of my friends have Alexa at their home, and I see how they keep giving commands to it, I find it little funny and discomforting also. They make fun of me, but then I am fine with my limited access and I do not even wish to expand. The television that I have at my place is now almost 15 years old and it serves me well, it's not a very big screen nor a small one, I find it good enough for my use.
These gadgets are so expensive and I feel when you buy them you need to make good use of it. New technology keeps developing and that's where we get lured to keep upgrading but in the bargain we are wasting so much of money on it. There are times when I do get lured to buy these things, but then deep within I know that I am not even going to use it much and they are not cost effective for me. I would rather spend that money on a holiday and see a new place.
