I think it would be good for people to be able to post topics and probably even replies as blog posts instead of just comments on the Steem blockchain for the people that choose to do that.

@musing has a feature like that on their Q&A website and its nice.

Topic: Open up customization options for forum owners.

What i think would be great is if you could allow a forum owner that might pay a premium price or is a subscriber the option of customizing his forum home page beyond the original tokenBB design. That would allow communities to visually differentiate themselves.

If you think about it, communities are basically modern tribes. And how do "tribes" (take a look at football fans) differentiate themselves?
By using different colors.

@lordbutterfly:

We will have a theme picker/upload solution in the admin panel in future.

Thats great to hear. Customization is really something that Steemians dont have much access to. (Outside the banner choice)
Its important to balance that ofc. Create design options but still have a slightly uniform look.

TokenBB will change this. We have many plans for customizeability of forums that we won't all release now ;)

Hi @lordbutterfly, yes we do have plans for custom themes and the ability to specify light or dark at admin level, with user toggle.

We already have a Github repo where anyone can go to customise a theme and then send it to us to apply to your forum. Github Link.

We are also able to add tiled backgrounds currently on request.

We will have a theme picker/upload solution in the admin panel in future.

Topic: Disable Mobile View (for now)

Since it has been said more than once that the desktop version is being worked on now, but the mobile version is not, I recommend that you guys disable the Mobile Version for now and make the Desktop version the default setting for mobile devices. DavaoCity.xyz always shows the Desktop version, even on mobile phones. Test.TokenBB.io on the other hand, shows a mobile version, and it might make some bug reports confusing to sift through since you have to determine if it was a Mobile View or a Desktop View.

  2. y most recent replies to comments or post so you can stay on top of them.
  3. Contact information (email, steemit account, discord username)
  4. Bitcoin, Steem, or other crypto addresses for tips. (one can dream that I will one day get a tip when this is posted in my profile)
  5. Website

It would also be an incentive for users to register to Steemit, when they see some people have rewards and not them.

Topic: After clicking on Categories, the category "All categories" is absent

I noticed that the "All Categories" category is absent when a person clicks on it to select a category. I am not sure about this, but I kind of think that the "All Categories" link should be included in the list of categories, even when a person clicks on the category dropdown menu to narrow their search. EXAMPLE: - There might be times when someone clicks on the categories dropdown menu to narror their search, but decide to go back to view All Categories. I have done this several times and it was uncomfortable to need to click "Back" on my cell phone, and I would have preferred to just navigate to the All Categories link naturally.

I noticed that there was recently an update for the mobile version of TokenBB. It looks better, but when you click on the Categories, the letters and words of the categories on a Samsung Note 5 are TOO SMALL. When we click on the categories on a mobile phone, I believe the categories should be enlarged almost to the point of filling up the screen (full screen) - that way it will be easy for people to read the categories and see the letters clearly.. especially for people with smaller phones and poor eyesight.

Topic: Suggestion: Pop user back to the last comment they viewed on a thread.

Hi, guys.

If you have been around TokenBB since the inception of the previous user interface I know we can all agree that things are really coming together nicely. This is a project I am fully backing and would love to see become the ultimate Forum Software around.

Now, to help further that cause there are several things that can be implemented to improve the user experience. That is after all the best way to make people return several times over to a forum.

While returning to view a thread, users should be snapped directly to where they last were in that thread. Basically the last comment they viewed.

At the moment that is not available and you have to go through the pagination to find your comment.

You basically have to remember which page you were on in order to find your comment. That would be an amazing feature.

Thank you very much to the TokenBB team for this awesome product. I continue to support you through it all.

yes of course. We've done so many changes on the front-end that we gave up for a bit trying to maintain 2 themes but as soon as the front-end is a little bit more stable, we'll for sure provide a "theme switcher" and for Pro members, the ability to have their custom theme.

Topic: Hall of Fame for Top Users

This is just an idea but it might be possible to create a Hall of Fame of the Top Users for each particular forum.. it can also be a Premium feature that can only be activated for paid Forum Owners.

The main Demo site could list the Top Users acrossed all TokenBB forums while each particular forum would only display the Top Users for their particular forum. But caution should be noted and this feature should be disabled by default IMO since it might crowd people's websites more than some owners prefer.

View this topic on TokenBB

Reply to Hall of Fame for Top Users

We also have to consider what metrics to use for the hall of fame/leaderboard, is it most active with replies, or highest value earnings upvote wise, etc, it can be gamed and can cause spam, i would make it a leaderboard that is forum specific and not global, users of a sports forum wouldn't really have anything to do with a forum on homesteading for example.

View the topic on TokenBB

Reply to Hall of Fame for Top Users

having the leaderboard localised per forum makes sense also because admins can control leaderboard farming accounts easier by deleting their comments which then won't count. If the leaderboard is global, there is no way for admins to tell if what they are doing on other forums is legit, there is an attack vector where someone could create their own forum for only the purpose of self voting so they can get to the top of the leaderboard rankings.

We have a database backend. The problem is if you have 10000 topics and 10000 users, you get 1000000 unread counters. It basically explodes very fast. So we have to find a way that is useful for the people using it but not breaking down once many use it

A subscribe-to-topic feature is an okay idea, but it isn't a deal breaker if you don't create one, especially in the beginning while the forum communities are still small (it might be unneccesary). But if the forum communities start getting really large, with a lot of topics and posts added daily or even hourly.. it might be nice to be able to subscribe to our favorite topics (i.e. subscribe via email). I'm not sure if I'd use it though. Probably not at first.

Just a word about new users, who would register on Steem to be able to participate into a forum.

If we (long date members) are aware of RC's management things, new users may not know about it at first glance.

I suggest a gauge under the user name in the header of the forum, and/or a warning when a users posts a message and is getting low in RC's.

That way, he will understand the anti-spam aspect of this feature and will be able to properly manage his RC's for the first times.

Topic: Make the Steem Reward amount clickable.

I recommend that you make the actual amount of each Steem Reward clickable, so that users can view who upvoted a particular post, but I'd recommend against changing the appearance of the numbers (aside from adding a $ sign). I think it would add too much if you underlined it, or made the numbers bold. It's good enough for people to just stumble upon being able to discover who upvoted what without making the Reward amount over-complicated, or "too much". I really enjoy seeing who upvoted what on Steem-based Dapps and personally get discouraged, and in a significant way, when it is hard or impossible to see who voted what.

At the moment it is possible to upvote a topic in the summary view. Thus outside without reading it.

I don't think that someone will upvote a topic without opening it. So removing it will not reduce function.

I find it confusing, as I do not know what I'm going to upvote. Will I upvote the last contribution (profile image shown below user) or will I upvote the Author?

You could also make it private messaging a paid feature for Forum owners.

Nice to know Esteem is doing this, but I think the core of this is open public forums, private messages don't really fit this idea, neither do private forums which we have declined to do for now. I will add it potentially to the roadmap.

Topic: Push Notification for New Posts

I'm not really sure if this is possible with a website but it seems like @dollarvigilante has this on their website and I would personally like Push Notifications for new posts on all of the Forums I will create.

Email notifications would be a second option but Push Notifications on my phone, or Desktop notifications like what Facebook does would be really good.

Once this gets going, I plan on making a career off of discussing things and Forumning - Steem and my stake in Steem might make that possible!

P.S. Active users a.k.a. Super Users might like this feature.

hi @chrisrice,
thank you for the suggestion, push notifications are on the roadmap but in the meantime you can use GINAbot to get instant notifications through Discord on mobile, web, and desktop. After you have downloaded Discord from your app store, follow these steps to setup:

  1. click on this invite to BuildTeam Public server
  2. go to #registration channel and type: ..reg chrisrice
  3. follow GINAbot's instructions to verify your account
  4. activate the comment/others option in your notification settings:
  5. done. you will get notified when someone replies tp your topic.

at the moment you will get notified about new replies on your Steemit posts as well but soon it will be separable. (need some development still)

i hope that helps :)
for more info about GINAbot services, check this post.

Topic: Place a $ sign in front of the Steem rewards

One of the greatest appeals of forums Powered by TokenBB (in relation to standard forums) is the ability to earn by foruming. Because of it's attractive nature, I recommend that you place a $ sign in front of the Steem rewards for each topic, and each post. Otherwise, some people (new to Steem) may not even know it's points, rewards or anything like that. As it stands now, it just looks like random numbers in the corner of the posts (to non-Steemians). One of the beautiful things about TokenBB is that people can just forum, without having to sign-up for Steem or even wanting to earn. But for newcomers, it would still peak their interest if they saw $ signs on the side of each post, and it might keep an otherwise bounce on the Forum, long enough on the site to learn more more (ie they might eventually become an active user). That is why I think it's good to add $ signs in front of the Steem Rewards.

I think a dollar sign would be a good first stopgap, but we can see about having our own currency symbol later

Technically it isn't a dollar value it is a Steem STU value, so maybe another currency symbol or perhaps $ to start

View the topic on TokenBB

Reply to Place a $ sign in front of the Steem rewards

I definitely think the $ symbol is the absolute best symbol to use. Throughout the world, the $ symbol is the most universal symbol for money, so if you want people to know that it is a real currency being earned.. and not just "Points".. use a $ symbol. People will eventually discover that it isn't $USD for themselves later on anyways.. just like I did. If you use any other symbol, you risk people thinking it is just fake money, monopoly money so to speak, or just points like Waze or Shopee Rewards. Remember, first impressions last and it is important for people to see that real money can be earned in the first few seconds they open the site - otherwise.. they may leave the site after a few seconds and never return. Using a $ sign will probably increase the stickiness of first time visitors and it would help me market my TokenBB forum.

Hey guys!
A feature that could really improve the usage of the website is to make usernames clickable and get a button "show topic started" - "show all posts". That way it will be really easy to read about things we care.

Another cool one is to add in the Account section a page called "my posts" or "my threads" to have them all gathered in a single place.

There will be a beneficiary reward for the forum owner and for tokenBB.What do you think are good values for these?

View this topic on TokenBB

Reply to Beneficiary Reward Split Discussion

Finally got around to playing with TokenBB for the first time and it's looking good so far! The payment tiers don't look at all unreasonable to me, but one thing I'd love to see is the possibility of these being automated or "earned." Not to compare the two projects, but that was one aspect ChainBB had developed that was interesting. Better revenue splits and tiers were automatically unlocked as the earnings flowing through your forum grew, and along with it the hosts/developers revenue.

With the structure of these plans, there are points at which the economics for the forum owner dictate a clear switchover. If my math is correct, the Basic plan should be purchased as soon as $180 USD a month of rewards are flowing through a forum's posts, Standard at $800, and Premium at $1600.

While owners can and should be incentivized to purchase premium packages to get quicker access to features that will help them customize and grow their forum faster, I think they could also earn these features by growing their volume alone.

It also makes it nice that forum owners don't have to worry about sending payments each month, nor do you have to worry about invoicing and collecting them, as long as their forum is sustaining suitable activity to keep them in the proper tier. The 180/800/1600 breakpoints above are the points where it is revenue neutral to TokenBB and fair to the consumers to simply grant them access to the upgraded features of the next plan level.

Hope that all makes sense and might be at least a bit of food for thought!

I also agree that TokenBB should always take at least some cut, and out of ALL TokenBB forums.

The Forums with the most traffic will likely opt for Premium accounts and a flat fee likely wouldn't be enough compensation from your top performing Forums in the future (80% of your money will probably come from 20% of your forums, but it will only be a decent amount of income if you take a %, not just small flat fees a.k.a. Pareto Principle).

It's better to always include a % of some kind. It's what Google Adsense uses and I think they use % for a reason. If they allowed flat fees that would undercut their revenenues they would likely be worth a lot less.

Ah, now there's a bug! It just allowed posting of an empty comment.

Back on topic, before deciding on a % worth looking at some of the mechanics of posting and commenting - this is from experience of using chainBB when it was monetised.

Do new posts only appear if posted via tokenbb?

Do comments made on other platforms appear within the forum?

So, all depends on how easy it is to bypass the beneficiaries, though I'd set it low to encourage use - chainBB used to be 15% which was a tad high and frustrated uptake.

Also, bizarrely, many people don't know what a forum is!! Honestly!

Great to see this revving up.

@bryan-imhoff thanks for your in depth thoughts on this, I am hover just thinking of some edge cases where a forum may be for a small community or used as a bug hunt forum like ours, which won't have massive revenue flow, but may still want all of the features, in such a case the owner can pay for the features at anytime instead of having to bring in earnings.

It is also like "the chicken and the egg", a forum needs good features such as more flexible beneficiary options to draw the crowd, and the plan model makes most sense for this. We live in an instant gratification society whereby users want to access features today and not wait to earn them.

Another consideration is what happens when the forum hits the target volume for the extra features, but later dies down in popularity, would they lose their extra features?

What you could maybe explore is ad revenue shares or what BAT is doing. Platform specific token rewards for thread/forum owners that opt for viewing ads on their forums.

Simply put, I would like the form owner to be able to coustomize their own part, but up to a certian amount, maybe 10%. As for tokenbb's amount, it should be at max 5% and reevulated every 3 months or right after a HF depending on what happens sooner.

@rishi556 on all our paid plans we take 5% or 2.5%, or nothing if premium. Forum owner can customise own part up to 7.5% on standard plan, and unlimited customisation on Premium plan.

We can look at reviewing our % over time, for now we have no idea of what revenue will come in, it is easier to drop our % than increase it over time, so better to start higher otherwise trying to increase faces more pushback.

Everything is negotiable/reviewable over time.

View the topic on TokenBB

Reply to Beneficiary Reward Split Discussion

I think it would be good to allow non-paying forum owners to take up to 10% of the rewards from their forum and offer even more flexibility for Premium forum owners, especially for unusual circumstances i.e. If someone commits 10,000,000 Steem Power to reward the users of a particular forum, there should be a limit no less than 75%. It would be a free market, and it may attract large investors and would likely reward users much more than setting the limit too low.

EXAMPLE:

If Premium forum owners set the beneficiary rewards too high, people will simply stop using their forums and will choose an alternative, especially since making an alternative of a TokenBB forum is a lot easier than making a Facebook alternative (the user data is public unlike Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Quora etc.)

Allowing higher beneficiary rewards might help entrepreneurs and forum owners raise higher delegations for their users if they agree to funnel most of the profits from their forum to delegators... but you can charge different fees for different limits and on a sliding scale - 75% would be the most expensive and only accepted under extremely unusual circumstances and requires an official proposal, followed by 60%, 50%, 40%, 30%, 20% and then the free version of 10% and below.

I believe a cut of 35% of the 10%-Beneficiary-Rewards-Cut would be a good starting point for TokenBB to raise funds from forum owners, but this can also be decreased if someone makes a competing platforum for forums and offers a better deal.

The key is not to underprice your services in the beginning since cutting prices will always be popular, but increasing prices if you set it too low at first can leave a really bad taste in people's mouth.

I don't know how high I'll set Beneficiary rewards for my forums but it would help if you made it flexible, since I want to funnel most of the rewards to delegators who will in turn, reward my forum users much to their liking - My ultimate goal is to enable people to earn decently well, just through their contributions on DavaoCity.xyz and other sites and forums.

If the beneficiary reward cut is to low, like 2.5% or even 5% for forum owners, newcomers with little Steem Power (like me) will have a hard time attracting investors and may not even be able to reward their users at all. Please take that into account.

The lowest cut I think TokenBB should take is 2.5% of total rewards.

Reply to Beneficiary Reward Split Discussion

@lordbutterfly made some good comments in a post which I link here: https://steemit.com/tokenbb/@lordbutterfly/steem-forums-application-tokenbb-open-registrations

He feels beneficiary rewards deter usage, which is why I mentioned with our premium subscription beneficiary rewards can be tweaked or removed altogther.

He also thought that thread/topic creators would get a beneficiary share and that isn't actually a bad idea, we should consider a 3 way split between tokenbb/forum owner /thread creators which will hopefully stimulate activity and curation happening within each topic by the creator of the topic, this could be very healthy for engagement and content creation.

@sebbbl I agree that showing the split on the frontend is a good idea for transparency and probably should be laid out in our theme standards guide.

Mechanics:

Do new posts only appear if posted via tokenbb? Yes

Do comments made on other platforms appear within the forum? No

So, all depends on how easy it is to bypass the beneficiaries, though I’d set it low to encourage use - chainBB used to be 15% which was a tad high and frustrated uptake. - Agreed, 10% should be max overall imo

I absolutely agree premium features should be purchasable immediately @cryptodrive. It's a choice for the consumer and an upsell for TokenBB!

Under an automated system, if a forum were to fall below it's thresholds for a defined period, say 60 days, invoicing to pay direct to retain premium features could begin.

Even if it's not fully automated, I guess I'd advocate for admin tools that show and prompt when it's clearly time to upgrade a forum to the next level so that users don't end up overpaying. These kinds of progress bars and reporting also add a level of gamification that can help motivate forum admins to drive more traffic and build their forum level.

In running the numbers, I also feel like you may actually be undercharging a bit on the high end, depending on what infrastructure and service support you may need to run on TokenBB in the backend. For instance, $69 seems like a lot when an individual is paying it out of pocket, but when just $1600 of rewards flow a month makes that top tier economically feasible, that's really not a huge amount. I do think removing the TokenBB reward share completely should be at a higher point than that. Perhaps Premium could still carry a 1% share to TokenBB that caps at a certain USD amount at which point a forum becomes a business or enterprise level client.

View the topic on TokenBB

Reply to Beneficiary Reward Split Discussion

Thanks for the extra expansion on this @bryan-imhoff, some of the ideas are good, especially carrying a nominal 1% tokenbb beneficiary into premium. and notifications if the forum isn't earning enough to maintain the extra features and needs to switch to paid plan.

imo it may be difficult to code this payment system at the start, but it could be something that evolves, maybe we revise pricing annually or so.

Probably somewhere between 2.5/2.5 and 5/5. Perhaps the latter is too high?

edit: ah I see the conversation has moved on. While I would like to earn a percent on the Free package, I understand why you might want to charge for the ability to set beneficiaries for the forum owner. I'm just tight with my STEEM, no matter how small the amount is. ;)

Topic: Show the $ Votes, even when not Logged-In

I noticed after the recent TokenBB ...update that the $ Votes were not visible and I actually thought the site was broken. So I stopped using the site for a bit and checked after a few hours.. after a few hours the votes on the right hand side .of Topics and Replies hadn't appeared yet.

That is when I clicked on the Hamburger Menu in the upper right hand side of my mobile to see if I could figure out what was wrong and as it turns out.. I was logged out.

I logged in and sure enough, the votes on the side of the Topics re-appeared.

Aside from some people thinking the site might be broken when they are logged out.. new users who are first time visitors will not immediately see the $ signs, so they'll not know from the start that TokenBB is different from other websites and forums (users get paid for contributions).

I recommend that you make the $ signs and votes visible, even for people who are visiting for the first time and in the first few seconds. It will be a free marketing tool and forum owner will not need to market their sites as websites that compensates users, people will discover it themselves and instantly in some cases.

This would prevent people from falling into the "too good to be true" ideology and would make it much easier to attract active members and new sign-ups IMO.

Please update this thread once it's completed @thecryptodrive.

The three things I am waiting for are:

@chrisrice the Custom domain feature is tricky because we need to find a work around to each custom domain being able to be used without implicitly having to trust it with our sign on app. Should have a solution during March but not immediate, for the the tokenbb subdomains work.

SSL should be part of that too.

The $ signs when logged out has been a request from a few people, probably a good idea and not too had.

I Power Up all of the Steem I earn and only purchase additional Steem off of the market on rare occasions.

Because of this, paying in Steem is inconvenient but I love the idea of people needing to have a Steem account in order to create a new Forum.

Maybe you can keep the 10 Steem payment requirement but find a way for people to pay in USD as long as they have a Steem account.

I am interested in paying the 10 Steem to create new forums but I'd be able to do it much sooner if I could pay with a Visa, Mastercard or PayPal.

If I could buy 10 Steem with a Visa, Mastercard or PayPal it would be even better!

Technically, for us to be able to manage ssl on your domain you need to transfer ownership to us or point your dns to our location.

If you want us to manage it you will have to pint your domain to our servers, pm me to set that up.

Currently fourm.tokenbb is creating post forum by fourm. If you look at the above image, you will see it is more than 600 comments. It will grow more and more and can not read in a few more days. It is hard to find the comments you want in steemit. It will look like a garbage. In stead of posting like this it should change topic by topic. So we can easily find the comments we want and the structure will be very nice. It would need a lot of SP to post topic by topic. I hope you can handle it.

Reply to should creat posts topic by topic

@mmunited this is intentional. Just don't view it on steemit.com or similar interfaces :D

The idea is that you can create a topic without it appearing in your steemit.com followers feed. And that requires it to be comments. We decided on one post per forum to have it grouped very simple.

If you have problems loading 600 comments then my suggestion is, don't. Our view in Steemit.com links link to one specific comment to reduce complexity and we link to tokenbb in gina and in all steem interfaces so that their interface does not have to die down because of comments.

And remember, if you reply from a random other interface, it will be ignored ;)

This would be good as it would make it easier to see if someone has already created the same/similar topic.

Topic: Create Wiki creation features for Paid Members

I have two domain names that match each other very well and I want to use one as a forum, and the other as a Steem-based Wiki.

Since I learn best and even clarify my ideas best through discussions and conversations, I'd like to discuss the specific topics of interest on the TokenBB forum I create, and then publish the final or semi-final conclusions on the matching domain name in the form of a Wiki.

I stopped using Quora some time ago but I noticed that they also started adding in Wikis. Adding in Wikis into social apps somehow might become more widespread someday - one.of the things that Wikipedia lacks is benefits like visibility for their contributors. This would bring two great tools together on the Steem blockchain, it would empower people and.some of the code might already have been done by @steempedia.com.

I haven't tested their code yet but supposedly it's open source. If it's work already and can be used please let me know. I didn't understand whether or not it is already a finished project.

P.S. It might be another worthy project for @buildteam if it is almost finished.

I saw the post @chrisrice but it is 4 months old and no updates, I think when they saw they only got $8 on the post they abandoned again. The github is there but only their old one, and is only the frontend, no backend engine. I suspect we would start from scratch anyway using TokenBB as a base to work from.

I don't want to derail TokenBB at the moment, I say we develop it as best as we can and then hand it over to our marketing team to spread it far and wide, at that point the devs can start a new project.

Build Team might be able to move first to contact them and partner with them if their code is good.

Once the market turns around which I think it is already doing now, they might transform from dormant to active and Build Team as a company might want to prepare themselves ahead of time and partner with them early on.

They supposedly have a Github but you'd have to check the code to see if it is good. I haven't personally checked it yet but I want to use a Steem-based Wiki for @humanism.

Isn't the New Topic, always the first post in every Topic? I think TokenBB is setup like tradition Forums, and I don't think it would be good for people to have to write a full blog post as a topic. But it would be good to have the word "New" highlighted somewhere for new posts, but it is only an idea. I also think the formating i.e. Bold, Italic, Underline, linebreaks, username tags, hyperlinks and embedsed images should work soon, they don't work yet.

Have you ever been active in traditional forums like TokenBb before?

Or is this your first time participating in a forum like this?

Yeah.. TokenBB is setup as an online forum, and it is much different than a blogging platform like Steemit.

The initial Topic being identical to the following posts, or at least close to identical is normal, but some forums display the word "New" in the overall feed when a post is a New Topic.

Other than that.. posts underneath a New Topic are identical to the initial topic, and hold just as much weight - Sometimes the posts in the middle of a topic even become more important than the Original Topic.

Reply to New Topic needs to be in the form of a post

Topic: Fix the Upvote Slider

When I click the upvote button on a Topic or on a reply, it automatically upvotes at 10% strength by default.

I think that is a mistake and I recommend you make the default upvote strength 100% with one click @thecryptodrive @reggaemuffin @cryptoctopus

Then, if someone wants to vote less then 100% they can long press on the upvote button and adjust the slider then click on the upvote button on the popup to confirm their desired amount.

Another way to fix this would be to make it impossible to upvote with one click and require everyone to use the slider and confirm the upvote in the popup instead.

I am having issues since my upvote at 10% strength is only worth $0.002 and the threshold for payments is $0.02.

I want to upvote as many people as I can on Humanist.xyz but if it votes at 10% it doesn't even let me take the vote back and upvote at 100%.. on Steemit it's possible to change an upvote we make, but if you clear the issue and make the default upvote 100% or require a confirmation in the pop-up with the slider, it would solve both issues.

Another option is to let users take back their upvote but that might make the UI more complex and it seems like simple and basic is sometimes a better approach:

Example:

Facebook beat Myspace by offering a simpler interface.. at least that us my theory.

We probably need the ability to unvote too @reggaemuffin :)

Good point! We might also want to allow flags and everything.

But there is a discussion to be had about simplifying the current interface, basically just allowing one vote and done. We have to think about users coming from facebook who don't care about percentages and stuff like that. So it might bake sense to have the upvote button be locked at 100% for new users and then in your user settings you can enable advanced mode with percentage, unvotes and maybe downvotes.

Yes.. that would be best @reggaemuffin. I believe Facebook beat Myspace due to the simplicity of Facebook 👍

We probably need the ability to unvote too @reggaemuffin :)

Reply to Fix the Upvote Slider

But there is a discussion to be had about simplifying the current interface, basically just allowing one vote and done. We have to think about users coming from facebook who don't care about percentages and stuff like that. So it might bake sense to have the upvote button be locked at 100% for new users and then in your user settings you can enable advanced mode with percentage, unvotes and maybe downvotes.

@reggaemuffin I fully agree with this, default is 100% with no slider, advanced settings to enable slider. We do have to offer unvote, cause Facebook allows you to unlike.
