Using remote viewing as an intelligence gathering tool became a hot topic during the 80's and early 90's. It wasn't necessarily hot because the American Intelligence machine thought it was the next evolutionary step in data gathering, but our cold war adversary's the Soviet Union did believe in Parapsychology. The U.S. Government was concerned because the Soviets rarely invested time and money into research that didn't provide a tangible benefit. If the Soviet Union armed with a Unit of Remote viewers in the safety of their own borders could successfully crack America's top defense secrets psychically. It would have been catastrophic to say the least.

There had always been no shortage of public figures giving 1st hand testimony of their times in secret Remote Viewing programs. Of course the problem with 1st hand accounts is your only evidence on Remote Viewing was a Carnival of infotainment and novelty.
The CIA.gov has cracked open the Paranormal Research of remote viewing with hard documentation. Once secret documents are now declassified even proving Remote Viewing was used during a time of National Emergency, The Iran Hostage Crisis in 1979.

The Grill Flame Scientific Evaluation Committee Report of 1979 is a 94 page peice of history. It documents the inception of a formal committee, that would monitor the results of Parapsychology Research from around the country, conducted by the military and Intelligence services. The document already details some Remote Viewing and Telekinesis research being conducted prior to 1979. What you are seeing in this document is the very beginning of the X-files, as in season 1, episode 1. While formal research on Remote Viewing just really began, this is the beginning of the secret cold war intelligence program to investigate the use of Parapsychology for use by the U.S. Government for National Defense.

One of the real world Remote Viewing sessions on file at the CIA.org was a case in which remote viewing was used to gather Intelligence on the Iranian Hostage Crisis. A Remote Viewer was asked to scan a compound for any signs of Hostages being kept at the compound.

In this deep dive research challenge I edited out quite a bit of personal back story on why I chose the subject of Remote Viewing. Back in the 80's and early 90's there was no truth movement. There was the public library, the book store, and if you were lucky Art Bell on Coast to Coast AM would have an interesting guest that cost you a nights sleep to get information that bordered on novelty.
Art Bell was the only truth related media source I had access to, and I had to stay up between midnight and 3 am to get a listen, there was no technology even available for me to record a 3hour show and play it back at a reasonable time. Not to mention staying up and getting 2 hours of sleep for a guest that sucked bad!
Remote Viewing was a hot subject on Art Bell and all I ever had to go on was 1st person accounts and interviews from characters that to this day are kind of no better than using the TV show Ancient Aliens as a hard source to stake a claim
This deep dive gave hard documented evidence that Art Bell of all places in the 90's was actually dropping cutting edge information and a subject I was fascinated in my early 20's has come full circle. Not to mention that it would have been impossible to conceive that we could share information like this in real time with people all over the world. Back then you could go 10 years and not meet one person to share a story or information with.

I too remember those 'Art Bell' Coast to Coast days...Not only was it late in the evening, but the radio reception I usually got was weak and often got periods of a lot of static.
We're fortunate these days to have the Coast to Coast shows archived, with the ability to listen at any hour we choose.

Remote Viewing was a big topic back than, though everything had an ancient aliens novelty to it, with all this CIA documentation on Remote Viewing it was one subject Art Bell had that was literally cutting edge information in hindsight. I am so glad that this information age is here, I wouldn't want to have to go back to those days where it would take a year to learn what I can now find out in a day
