SC S24W1: Animals.

Season's salutations to everyone here, it's good to be back writing in this community. I came across the steemit challenge by @jesusnunez and I said to myself , 'Why not??'
This is my first time attempt to draw anything on paper and I'm here to have fun, release the creative in me and also find out the talents in me as I learn from this class. Walk with me as I draw my very first animal - A Turtle 😁.

I read the course, looked at the three animals sampled, and said to myself, you know what?? I'm going to draw that turtle and I'm going to make one hell of a drawing 😂, so let's get into it .

Step by step

1. I drew two oval shapes not equal in size. One would be the body and another smaller one which would be the head of the tortoise as seen in the first image above.

2. Then I joined the body and the head with two curved lines. One running up and the other down.

3. Following through instructions as I saw, I drew three curved lines. These lines divided the body. They will help guide me later when I want to divide the body into shells.

4. The next thing I drew was a series of vertical lines that will be useful when I'm partioning the body into shells. I also drew the tails here, and the curves for where the legs will stand.

5. This part was a bit tricky as I didn't see the drawing atop it earlier. My tutor @jesusnunez calls it a "relief", but I created the outline detail of the topmost shell outline for this animal. I also sketched the claws to be filled in later.

6. Here the magic begins. This is where the "relief"outline I talked about in No 5 came to play as I erased the lines that were not needed so that the shading process would begin.

I will say here that I'm learning that art is detail. I drew a first trial on another paper and there were a lot of details I didn't see, until i began drawing this one I'm posting here now. At first I was confused because I didn't see all these things in the first drawing and it didn't come out bad, so how did all these details suddenly appear?😂😂, but as I continued drawing, now following the details, I began to love the creature I was creating😁.
Details really make the work stand out. The difference in colour with the two frames was from my camera light setting.

SHADING My Turtle!!

According to my class, one of the most important things that sets this animal is it's shell, so I took great care in shading each fragment as I was instructed in the class. Here is my final result. A step by step shading of the fragments of the shell using 2B pencil.

First I started with one shell at the middle divide, then I pressed in and went deeper down and kept shading.
Once I was done with the shell, I started working on the belly and legs as you can see here.
Below is the finished result.

This was such an experiment of fun for me and also a pointer to the fact that one doesn't truly know what is inside them until they give it an opportunity.
I had so much fun drawing this and I also learnt something new about myself.
