Hello there, I hope you're good and are having something close to an okay day at least. Well, yesterday, I got upset about something and it affected me the entire day.

My productivity was almost next to nothing but I tried to handle my feelings logically so I could get an early release and sieze back my day. I struggled with it and in a way, it worked.

At the end of the day, I thought of others battling with the same struggle and decided to put a listicle together on how one could make a bad day work for them.

In no particular order - and without needing to cross the entire list off - here are a few things you could try when your day starts to set downhill:

1). IDENTIFYING THE CAUSE:

You can't proffer solutions without a diagnosis. Placing your finger on the trigger is the first step in getting help. Is it a person? Something that was meant to happen or didn't? Or is it you who's causing this heartache?

This exercise will help to give you focus and you can of course, work out a way to fix it.

2). CONFRONT THE ELEPHANT :

It actually helps to - metaphorically speaking, rip the bandaid early on. This kind of approach could vary according to situations and seriousness of said elephant but on a basic scale, it saves you a lot of mental and emotional pacing.

3). SILENCIO BRUNO:

I actually culled this phrase from a movie animation, Luca - "Silencio Bruno". A Bruno is anything that bugs us and makes us unable to move on with things. It could be self-doubt surrounding your abilities or your emotions acting out.

It's really not as smooth a task but one after the other, you can clear things up.

4). TAKE A BREATHER(S):

When you've done something - or nothing - towards getting release and you're still hitting walls, try to take literal breaths. Step away, mentally or physically, from that particular bug and simply breathe. It helps to clear the head temporarily and allows you look outside the box on the solutions.

5). EAT:

You've heard the saying that "a hungry person is an angry person", and most of the time, this checks out. I hadn't eaten yesterday and that was part of what caused my glum. So make sure that even if you and the issue wanna chew at each other, you're at least doing it on a full stomach.

6). TAKING THE EDGE OFF:

This could be at the end of the day or whenever the edge cuts too close. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, right? What do you do to unwind? Some people go out, play games, do something with their hands, all within their capacity. It is considered unhealthy if indulged in excess but smoking and drinking help in areas like this.

Without binging, have some of that 'antidote' and let it gloss over things for a while. Then you can resume later.

7). THINK SMALL STUFF:

When things don't fall in place, the mind takes the toll and spirals into the poison that is overthinking. All your thoughts juxtapose and you can't seem to put a lid on it. It is then that the emotions from different timeliness decide it's time to play. Remember, "Silencio Bruno".

You'll blow your head up indulging them so for the sake of your mental health, floor the brakes.

CONCLUSION

A bad day comes like a hiccup or a speedbump - you don't expect it but you know it happens every now and then. It could leave you crippled and patted down on what you can achieve. But you can beat being a sitting duck with these few steps.

Please note that this is just my adaptation on how I consciously handled my bad day. You can tweak this small list and see how your bad situation can quickly lean in your favour.

I truly hope this was helpful and worth your time. You can let me know what you think in the comment section.

Thank you.

Nice write up thanks for sharing...

Aww I'm really glad I could help in this way. Thank you for reading.

Mood swings can be annoying but as you rightly said the first steps to take is identifying the cause, then we always try as long as is depending on us to avoid those things that triggered it. Thanks for sharing

Of course. Avoidance is smart in some cases. Thanks for reading and giving feedback.

would love to pick your brain one of these days :)

Very wonderful post,(i don't know what your name is). When I'm having a bad say, I engage heavily in number 6, my edge being going to stay around my extremely funny friends. It has a way of really making me happy again and forgetting all the pain, even if its just for little while.

I really like the post and would really like to nnow your actual name; I'm assuming "elven".
