About a year ago, we had a subject in college related to Computer Networking and Communication. It was taught to us by our college's HOD, a wonderful and highly respected teacher. He was known throughout the college for his excellent teaching methods and kind nature. We were really happy to learn from him.

He started teaching us this subject and explained things in such a fun and engaging way that we could understand everything easily. He was humorous and always made the class enjoyable. No other teacher taught the way he did.

But after almost nine years of teaching at our college, he got a better opportunity and moved to another university. His memories still stay with us.

During the days he was still with us, there was some work going on in our college's computer labs. The systems needed some setup and fixing, and he was actively helping with that. One day, during this busy period, he came to our class and gave us an assignment. He told us to complete it by the next lecture. Since he was in a hurry, he left quickly.

The problem was, we didn’t fully understand what the assignment was about because it was all new to us. We tried searching online using the words he had said, but maybe we didn’t spell them correctly or didn’t search the right way. So, we didn’t find much helpful information.

When we went to the next class, we told sir honestly that we didn’t understand the topic. He got slightly upset and said we should have asked him again instead of remaining confused. Then, he explained the topic again and left.

Even then, we didn’t complete the assignment properly. Most of us either did not do it or left parts incomplete. We thought sir would be too busy fixing the computer labs and wouldn’t check it.

But sir came to class and started checking the assignments. He was disappointed to see that many students hadn’t completed it properly. He said, “I teach you all with so much effort and love, but you don’t take things seriously. In other classes, students do their work properly and help their friends. But you all...” He was very hurt and walked out of the class.

We waited for him to return, but he didn’t come back. Eventually, our next class started and we left for home.

Afterwards, we all felt guilty. We decided to complete the assignment properly this time and even help each other with it. Everyone worked hard and brought completed assignments the next day.

We waited for sir, but he didn’t come to class. We even messaged him, apologized, and requested him to return. But he replied that he wouldn’t teach our class anymore because we didn’t respect his efforts.

We knew he loved our class he had once told us we were his favorite , so we felt even worse. We thought of doing something special to apologize.

We bought computer sheets, glue, and decorations from the university canteen. Then, my friend made a beautiful apology card. We wrote a heartfelt sorry message on it and promised never to repeat our mistake. We also bought a Dairy Milk chocolate for sir.

We shared our plan with another teacher and requested her to bring sir to our class on any excuse. She helped us, and finally, sir came to class. As soon as we saw him, we all said sorry and gave him the card and chocolate.

Sir smiled and said he wasn’t angry anymore, and he accepted our apology. He then checked our assignments and appreciated our efforts. From that day on, we never gave him a reason to be upset again.

We learned a big lesson to always respect the effort teachers put into teaching us, and to never take their work or time for granted. Whenever sir gives us any task now, we try our best to complete it sincerely and never disappoint him again.

MODs Comment/Recommendation:

When we are studying do certain things which become source of anger for the teachers they did efforts and wanted to see students successfully. But as the students didn't consider assignment important and left it few parts when teacher saw obviously he was annoyed. Our little acts of sorry and correction of the mistakes makes the things acceptable soon and it was achievable too.

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. Yes, you're absolutely right teachers put so much effort into shaping our future and sometimes we do not even realize how much our small actions can hurt them.

I’m really glad that our apology helped make things better, and it taught us an important lesson that we’ll always remember. Thanks again for your support.

Most times we take things for granted, not knowing the efforts the teacher had put in place to prepare the lesson and to explain it to us. He must have felt very bad. But in any case. You guys took the right steps to apologize, using the word sorry made all the difference along with the approach you guys used. Sincere apologies can really change situations

You're absolutely right. At that time, we didn’t realize how much effort our teacher had put into preparing the lesson for us. But later, we truly understood how hurt he must have felt. We were lucky that our sincere apology and small gesture made things better.

This experience taught us a valuable life lesson to never take anyone's efforts for granted. Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement🤗🌼🌸
