My Neighborhood Watch #96 - Reporting Events Around us

in hive-147599 •  last month

Hi everyone and greetings to you all, it really been quite a while since I last posted in Steemit but not to worry am back and am here to share my humble entry with you all. This is @emmaboy23 reporting from the city of port Harcourt about a snake incident that occurred recently in my neighborhood specifically at my house. Living in a peaceful and tight-knit neighborhood has its usual charm—friendly neighbors, well-maintained streets, and a calm atmosphere. However, not every day is the same. One recent and unforgettable incident broke the usual routine when a snake was found inside my house. This event quickly became the highlight of the week in our area and prompted discussions on safety and awareness.

The snake inside my house.

The incident took place on a Sunday evening while I was at home with my family, my mother who just finished preparing the food called upon us to take our food respectively. My dad was sitting in the parlour as he awaits his own share of the food while I and my sister entered the kitchen to get ours. Upon entering the house my sister which was the first to enter sited a snake curled up next to our kitchen door, startled to find a snake curled up next to our kitchen door she quickly alerted my dad and jumped out of fear. The sight of a black medium sized snake moving slowly across the kitchen floor was both terrifying and shocking

We acted quickly to ensure everyone’s safety. The kitchen door was closed to prevent the snake from escaping into other rooms. thanks to the tiles the snake was unable to move swiftly and that bought us more time to figure out how to kill it. My mom hurriedly brought out a small quantity of kerosene and poured it on the snake, affected by the kerosene the snake curled in an unease manner and we quickly hit it's neck with a cutlass. In the meantime, other neighbors began gathering outside after hearing about the incident and screams of snake.

After some minutes of distress, the snake was brought outside dead but slightly moving. Following the event, many neighbors began talking about how the snake could have entered the house. It was concluded that it likely came in through a drainage pipe or an open vent, possibly during recent rains. This led to immediate action by several households, including ours, to block any possible entry points for such creatures. After that we were still unsure about whether the snake was dead or not so my dad and I decided to burn it to ashes.

In conclusion This event served as a reminder of the importance of environmental awareness and preparedness. Living close to natural areas means encounters with wildlife can happen. Fortunately, our neighborhood responded with care, unity, and calm. No harm came to my family or any people involved, and the situation was handled with maturity and cooperation.

You made me recall the incident that happened to me " I came from work , while entering the house I didn't knew snake was lying down there. Behold there was a snake lying down,I Jumped with all the energy in me,I shouted at the same time. Omg, my shouting wakes up my family members which came to see what happened. Without a waste of time,I looked for machete while so e uses long heavy blank to beat the snake. The snake couldn't run because it has swallowed a little chicken. But all thanks to God I wasn't hurt.
