In my little years of experience about this business industry, I have actually come to discover that there are some certain things that if you did not know about business, you might just be labouring in vain without no result. I was guilty of that many years ago when I was running a business of selling banana. There are some important factors that I really wish I knew earlier which I didn't and it affects me.
For some people, they always pay attention to money when it comes to business, some pay attention to packaging in business, some pay attention to quality in the goods and services and many more. All these are very important but the issue is they are not as important as paying close attention to the power of customers. Customers are valuable tools that determine the extent of your business.
Not only do the customer power helps your business to achieve short term goals, it also helps you to achieve long term goals. The big issue a lot of business owner have is the fact that they did not really pay close attention to their customer. They joke with it and at the end of the day, they actually suffer for it. Everything needs to be given close attention to when it comes to the business world.
Today from my own personal experience, I have come to talk about reasons why you should not joke with your customer. One of the things that makes me to understand that you have a high sense of professionalism in your business is when I see how take careful attention to your customers. Take for example if your customer gives a complaint about a particular service or quality of goods you are selling in your business, if you did not pay attention to it, you will definitely suffer for it in your business for the long term goal but beyond that, it shows low level of professionalism.
I realised early that the business world is high competitive and so you must not joke with your customers. If you joke with them, they will leave your business and move to another business. As simple as it is, that's the truth. Always have this understanding that you are not the only one doing that business. If you did not handle your customer well, they will stop patronising you and they will visit another business owner who is selling the same goods you are selling or rendering to them the same services you were once giving to them.
The bitter reality is when customers start leaving your business, it is not a good thing. In fact most of the time, when customers start leaving your business, they stop other potential customers from coming and in several instances, I have discovered that those types of businesses hardly bounce back again. Because the more customers leave your business, the more you are sending a negative signal about your business brand trust and loyalty.
Every business is successful based on the strength of the brand trust and loyalty. These are the two major factors that helps a business to thrive. But the more you are not paying attention to your customers and they are leaving, it helps to send this negative signal about your business because you are not taking care of the need of your customers effectively. Trust me, if you damage this brand trust and loyalty, it is most times difficult to bounce and recover back. I have been in that shoe and I can testify.
