"Chasing the Sun, A Hilarious Misadventure"

Sometime ago here in Steemit I came across a photography contest in steem for Nigeria. I was elated to take part in that beautiful contest. I thought to myself, "This task is simple, or so it seemed". I mean, all I had to do was capture the beauty of the sunset (it was hilarious as I forgot to put the rainy season first).

The first evening, full of determination, I came out armed with my phone into the streets of 2 Lanes here in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, only to meet towering buildings and, as such, I couldn't even get a glimpse of the sun as it was literally playing hide and seek around the tall houses and trees.
I was disappointed but concluded that tomorrow is another day.

The next day, I decided to take a more strategic approach to catching the sun. I set my phone's alarm at 6:45 and got busy for the day. I was so engulfed with domestic chores that I lost track of time and when I finally remembered, I rushed outside with the camera in my hand and, alas! It was already dark.
I consoled myself while looking at the dark sky, saying "Tomorrow for sure "

On the third day, fate finally seemed to smile upon me. It was a public holiday, and there were no distractions. I announced to my family members that I needed to snap the sunset and that I should please be reminded by 3pm. My family members did just right. At exactly 3pm I was reminded by everyone.(It was a beautiful feeling, that feeling one has when family has your back.)

I yawned lazily as I stood up from my bed and stationed myself outside from 3 PM, armed with water under the scorching sun, and enough patience to last me a lifetime(I took lots of pictures to soothe my waiting).

I found a tree shade just outside my house and sat under it watching the sun as it moved right above my head and across getting ready to set, even sometimes disappearing into the cloud, making me panic and even taking a stroll to avoid obstruction of tall buildings and As the hours passed by, the colour of the sky began to bring out shades of pink and orange. It was happening! The sunset was near at last (I was beyond joyful).

But just as I prepared to take the perfect shot, dark clouds began to gather as if it wanted to rain. The sky lost its radiance and suddenly became angry. I whispered a desperate prayer, “Oh God, please, not today”. I kept praying silently that the sun would break out from the clouds and give me just one sunset. I ended up singing the famous "rain, rain go away"

Despite all these actions, nature sent it showers and then an outpour sending on a race into the house. I was sad and almost lost it in tears (even family members gathered to sympathize, reminding me of more sunsets to come, forgetting that I said it was a contest with a deadline). The contest ended that night without any sunset photos from me.

However, today I visited disconnect in search of what to write about, and I met this contest as organized by @senehasa, After checking through my gallery with no picture of the sun, I stepped out (silently praying that I atleast meet the sunset) Viola! There it was, the perfect sunset. The sky was a beautiful masterpiece of gold, orange, and pink, all in one sunset, as though the universe had decided to apologize for all the misadventures.
