🎇What is your full name and what does it mean?
My first name / F
My full name is Cruz Amilcar. The first refers to the instrument used to martyr and then inflict death on Jesus of Nazareth, the so-called Redeemer or Son of God, the man who divided history into a before and after his existence and laid the foundations of Christianity. The cross, as one of the most representative symbols of the doctrine proposed by Jesus, has a day destined for its celebration: May 3rd. On that same date I was born and, it could not be otherwise, in a Catholic family like mine, I was baptized with that first name.
Amilcar, on the other hand, according to the sources I have consulted for a long time, comes from the Germanic world: Melkart is the word from which it derives, which means “king of a portentous city”. According to some historians, the first man in history known by that name was a Carthaginian general: Hamilcar Barca.
🎇Why did you get this name or who gave it to you, is there a story behind it?
These two names were chosen by my mother. Cruz, as I already mentioned, because the day of my birth coincides with the celebration of the holy wood in the Christian almanac; and AmĂlcar, my mother said, she found it by chance in a novel she was reading at that time. She found it so beautiful and sonorous that she promised herself that she would formally call the last of her children by that name. Anyway, she also used to say that she had to leave with me in her arms, a few days after I was born, to the prefecture, to that place where the names of all people were legally registered to prevent my father from assigning me the same name that almost all his sons had: JosĂ© Nicolás, because that was his name and he was willing to repeat it as many times as possible.
🎇Are you satisfied with that name or do you wish to change it? If so, which one do you want to keep and why?
Satisfied with my name..
I confess that many times, especially during my childhood and adolescence, those names seemed strange to me and I even thought that as soon as possible I would change them for other more common ones. Sometimes, after careful consideration, I came to the conclusion that Cruz could not be a word to call a person, since it was usually an object, two simple lines crossed that anyone could draw anywhere with just two strokes, which was not the case with other names. As for Amilcar, I had the impression that it was a word invented without any purpose, a word that attracted more than anything else because it sounded strange, but that nothing definite suggested; besides, it did not match at all with the Cruz that was always in front of it.
Some years later, however, I stopped making so many lucubrations about my names, I realized that they were intimately linked to my person, and then I began to feel very proud of them. I verified, in short, that those words with which we are named are impregnated with our attitudes, with our way of being, with the good or bad actions that we carry out throughout our existence. That is to say, we must take care to honor those names with our actions, turn them into meaningful names to prevent them from becoming empty expressions. I have been satisfied with my names for a long time and I would never change them for any other.
🎇Tell us about your username on Steemit: is it the same as your real name or is it different? Or how do you keep it on Steemit?
In Steemit...
My username in Steemit, cruzamilcar63, I took it from my email, as it was recommended to me by the person who motivated me to join this platform and, as at that time I did not know everything about these avatars of content creator, I obediently followed his instructions. That name, by the way, was not the one I wanted to use for my email; I tried to use less literal names, but Google told me that they were not available for all the ones I proposed. At a certain point, the system suggested me to use cruzamilcar63 and, as I was tired of trying and urgently needed a Gmail email which I didn't have at that time, I accepted it.
In Steemit, I have tried to the best of my ability that this name identifies a respectful user, dedicated and willing to climb to the highest status of this platform. I don't know if I have succeeded, but every day I try with faith to meet the expectations I have set for myself in this eclectic universe.
