Shedrack and I🥰

Three years ago, I met Shedrak. He came to do his final year practicals at a hospital opposite my house and rented a place close to my house. We had a well in our compound, and he used to come there to fetch water. That’s how our friendship started. It was so simple, and it flowed natural.

We became best friends after a little while of being friends. We talked almost every day, shared our secrets, supported each other, and created beautiful memories together.

He was more like an elder brother, a confidante and someone I can always count on. People often mistook us for a couple, but it was just pure friendship we had, we were very close friends it meant a lot to me.

Some time last year, He told me He had feelings for me. He said He wanted more than just friendship. That moment was really difficult for me, I had to tell him the truth, i was already in a serious relationship, one that was clearly defined.

I explained things to him clearly and in a respective way, I also made it clear to him that I don't want to lose our friendship. He said He understood and we continued being friends.

Or let me say, so I thought.

Recently, He met this girl named PRECIOUS, a lady doing her practicals at the hospital where He works. They started dating, and everything changed between us. He stopped talking to me, He ignores me, stopped checking on me as he use to. It was like I no longer existed. He became cold, distant, like the years of friendship meant nothing to him.

It hurt. I never thought he would walk away like that. I didn’t reject his love to hurt him, I was only being honest with him. And truly I hoped we’d stay friends.

But now, I’m left with silence and memories that we shared for the past three years. Maybe things can’t go back to the way they were. But one thing is certain, I’ll always cherish the friendship we shared, regardless!
