Greetings and welcome to my blog, am glad to be a part of this week’s challenge again to explore the cake world. Find below my class work.

Make the given recipe in detail with step by step pictures. Include your name tag with the date at the final presentation of the recipe.

I made a chocolate cake with the recipe given in class.

My ingredients includes:

  • Butter
  • Flour
  • Eggs
  • baking powder
  • Vanilla Flavour
  • Cocoa powder
  • Milk and
  • Sugar

Procedure

I put the butter into a dry plate and added sugar to it and turned for a while. Then I proceeded to add the egg to it and continue stirring until I got the desired texture.

I added vanilla flavour and turned. I sieved the baking powder into the flour and mixed the cocoa powder into it and then poured it into the butter mixture and folded all together. I also added milk to the fold and mixed thoroughly.

I greased my pan and added the batter into the pan and place it on my preheated improvised oven. I allowed to bake for about thirty to five minutes until done.

My delicious cake is ready to be eaten. I enjoyed it alongside my friends and it was delicious

Is this your first time making a chocolate cake? Or have you made a chocolate cake before?

This is my first time of making a chocolate cake. Personally I love chocolate cake and it’s my best type of cake and am very crazy about it. I was excited trying this out at home and I totally loved it.

I did not encounter any difficulties in making the chocolate cake. I simply followed the procedure as laid out in the class and the cake came out perfect and delicious.

Explain the importance of the cocoa powder/chocolate powder used in the cake. Also, why do you use less cocoa powder than flour?

Cocoa powder is a very crucial ingredient in the making of chocolate cakes as

  • It’s provides flavour and gives the chocolate cake the rich and distinctive chocolate flavour.

The cocoa powder is what brings about the rich brownish colour of the chocolate cake.
It’s a major contributing ingredients to the depth and complexity to the flavor profile of the cake.

Along side these, cocoa power has health benefits due to the vitamins it’s contains such as magnesium, iron and copper and it to improves blood flow and lowers blood pressure. It also contains antioxidants that helps with inflammation and oxidative stress.

We use less quantity of cocoa powder than flour because cocoa powder has a bitter taste when use to much and hence we had to limit the quantity of useage to avoid the cake having a bitter taste which will ruin the cake.

Therefore it’s advisable to use small amount of the cocoa powder when making a chocolate cake.
