Personally, I think the train is the best mode of transportation used; it has the most beautiful views, is spacious, relatively quiet, and has a bar service that makes waiting more enjoyable. Not to mention the unique glamour of the rail stations, which have nothing to do with synthetic airports. The only thing that isn't so ideal is the speed, especially when it comes to long journeys and, of course, when you can't cross the seas.
Personalmente creo que el tren es el mejor de los medios de transporte utilizados, tiene las vistas más hermosas, es espacioso, relativamente silencioso y con un servicio de bar que permite amenizar las esperas. Por no hablar del glamour único de las estaciones que no tienen nada que ver con los sintéticos aeropuertos. Lo único que no es tan ideal es la velocidad, sobre todo cuando se trata de viajes largos y por supuesto que no se pueden cruzar charcos.
To try to reduce these travel times, the European Union is creating Starline, an ambitious project that seeks to create a metro-style high-speed train network connecting 39 major cities across the continent, including destinations in the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Ukraine. The network would have five interconnected lines and cover approximately 22,000 km, with trains traveling at between 300 and 400 km/h, 30% faster than current trains.
Para intentar reducir estos tiempos de viaje la comunidad europea crea Starline, un ambicioso proyecto que busca crear una red de trenes de alta velocidad tipo “metro” para conectar 39 grandes ciudades del continente, incluyendo destinos en Reino Unido, Turquía y Ucrania. La red tendría cinco líneas interconectadas y cubriría unos 22.000 km, con trenes que circularían entre 300 y 400 km/h, un 30% más rápido que los trenes actuales.

The main objective of this project is to reduce travel times, for example, from Helsinki to Berlin (about 1,200 kilometers) by just five hours, eliminate the fragmentation of the European rail system, and compete directly with short-haul flights. It also offers a much more environmentally friendly alternative, since airplanes and flights are comparatively much more polluting.
El objetivo principal de este proyecto es reducir los tiempos de viaje, por ejemplo, de Helsinki a Berlín (unos mil doscientos kilómetros) en solo cinco horas, eliminar la fragmentación del sistema ferroviario europeo y competir directamente con los vuelos de corta distancia, ofreciendo además una alternativa mucho más ecológica ya que comparativamente los aviones y los vuelos son mucho mas contaminantes.
The project would build on both existing rail infrastructure and new lines. Starline trains would have a distinctive dark blue color with star details, a reference to the European Union flag. New stations are also proposed outside major city centers, designed by architects from each country to become national landmarks and cultural centers with public spaces, museums, and concert halls.
El proyecto se construiría tanto sobre infraestructura ferroviaria existente como en nuevas líneas, los trenes Starline tendrían un distintivo color azul oscuro con detalles de estrellas, en referencia a la bandera de la Unión Europea y también se propone la construcción de nuevas estaciones fuera de los centros de las grandes ciudades, diseñadas por arquitectos de cada país para convertirse en hitos nacionales y centros culturales con espacios públicos, museos y salas de conciertos.

Con todo esto se busca ofrecer una experiencia similar a la de un metro, con trenes fácilmente identificables y un diseño interior moderno sin divisiones de clases tradicionales. Se contemplan zonas de trabajo silenciosas, áreas familiares y cafeterías. Una visión audaz para transformar la forma en que los europeos viajan, buscando crear un sistema de transporte transfronterizo eficiente, sostenible y tan integrado como un sistema de metro urbano.
However, it's important to keep in mind that Starline is currently in the conceptual phase. Its implementation would require significant centralized coordination and considerable investment, in addition to having to reach agreement with so many countries, so it will likely take decades to materialize. But there's no doubt it's a beautiful project that could also put an end to short-haul flights.
No obstante, s importante que tengamos en cuenta que Starline se encuentra actualmente en la fase conceptual. Su implementación requeriría una coordinación centralizada significativa y una inversión considerable, además de tener que poner de acuerdo a tantos países por lo que posiblemente tardará décadas en concretarse. Pero no cabe duda de que es un proyecto bonito que además puede terminar con los vuelos de corta duración.
