My first thought is that they should have put that bad boy on tracks or something instead of having to drag it across the sand. Seriously, a very innovative idea and project to use and endless (hopefully) power source - the sun, and a nearly endless material - dessert sand, for 3D printing. Very clever.

I watched the video and saw that it is really difficult to prepaire it. It is already heavy and it must be horizontal. But if you have a business you can use it easily. Finally it creates amazing things.

Well, they could have actually just put it in the truck and put it down somewhere they want to set it up. But as I mentioned on my replies to other comments here, I think that is part of the video effect to somehow show the possible difficulty that comes with it. :)

They have developed a great project. In the future, more energy will be needed. The idea of providing energy from the sun is excellent, and this project will save money.

Cool! The idea of this one was indeed flawless, I believe sand is made of silicone which is one of the most abundant natural resources in the planet and secondly is the witty idea of using sun as another source of energy placing it in deserted land was dashing. I love the idea, great hunt! I will give this one a score of 5 out of 5.

It was successful as shown on the video with the testing. The question is will they be able to sustain the manufacturing of such device and how they will make it available to glass manufacturing industries when it only works on solar panel.

Using natural resources without harming natural resources is a smart solution. If I were in the countryside, I'd take this product. It uses sand and sunlight to generate energy.

This is a good way to use the natural resources that are abundant. A 3D printer using the sun's heat to melt sand and is also powered by solar energy is just so cool. Expecting to see more work being done to make it look better.

Super amazing product that can change the world. It's basically Llysfaen a mix of 2 of my favourite kinds of products. This will literally change the faeces of desserts if we put effort into promoting this.

This is an amazing innovation for 3D printer.

I understand that the desert sand does not have the same value as sand from other places, and even Dubai imports sand, being so close to deserts.
I'm glad they found a kind of benefit to this type of sand.

3D printing will be taking a very interesting turn with this technology. Granted, it's pretty absurd to be printing 3D objects out in the desert, I mean who has the time, right? But you're right, once this technology is developed, we'll no longer be dependent on electricity and expensive powders, filaments, or liquids used for 3D printing. We can just use regular, inexpensive (and sometimes free) sand and take our printer somewhere it can be exposed to light, and we're good to go. Sustainable and eco-friendly.

Super Cool Hunt @macoolette

This is really cool gadget formed from combination of two unlimited resources-sand and the sun. The power for battery is provided through the solar panels-so that makes it's life always long lasting.

Cons

The 3D printing solar sinter seems to be easily affected by sandstorm that occur in desert. So, it might be a difficult task to keep it safe in the desert. You need to have a secure room to keep it safe. Also the assembling of the parts seems somewhat complex. Otherwise, it is great.

Hehehe... I actually thought of the difficulty in bringing the device to the desert. I wondered why they have to include that when they can just take it off and start with when the device is already working. But I guess it is part of the video effect to show the challenge in spite of what it can do. :)

The design and the purpose are for specific place and time with the sun up and shining bright so of course, it will not be available everywhere.

I will not call it expensive just because of the solar panel. Any investor will invest on the panels for one time and reuse it countless times with just one-time spending. Energies from coal or nuclear needs to be spent on every time you use it so that will be more expensive in the long term.

I also will not call it negative if it can not be used everywhere because again, that is part of the design of the device.
